4 NEW OUTLETS, 400+ NM TORQUE AND A PRICE THAT COULD SHAKE UP INDIA’S ELECTRIC BIKE MARKET!

Royal Enfield has expanded their electric mobility brand ‘Flying Flea’ to Hyderabad, making it the second Indian city where Royal Enfield has sold their Flying Flea C6 electric motorcycle. The company has opened up 4 customer touchpoints in Hyderabad, providing buyers with sales, test drives, service, and specialized technical support.

The Flying Flea C6 is priced at Rs. 2.79 lakh ex-showroom in Hyderabad, with a Battery-as-a-Service option bringing the price down to Rs. 1.99 lakh. The C6 is one of the most expensive electric motorcycles available in India, but also offers an innovative Battery-as-a-Service ownership option.

Four Touchpoints Across Hyderabad

Royal Enfield has adopted a hub-and-spoke model for their touchpoints in Hyderabad. The Erragadda company store will be the technical hub, while the other three will be dealer led, providing sales and standard servicing.

Touchpoint Location Role

Company store Erragadda Main Road Technical hub and specialised support

Taurus Motors Vanasthalipuram Sales and routine service

Bolt Motorcycles LLP Hi-Tech City Sales and routine service

SVR Motors Kondapur Sales and routine service

The Erragadda company store will provide specialized technical support, diagnosis, and battery related services, while the other three will provide local service and sales support.

This expansion is significant, as Hyderabad is one of the largest EV markets in India. A large portion of Hyderabad’s electric two-wheeler buyers are young, tech savvy millennials, with excellent urban infrastructure.

Performance: 21 bhp and Over 400 Nm Wheel Torque

The Flying Flea C6 is powered by a 3.91 kWh lithium-ion battery paired to a permanent magnet synchronous motor. The motor churns out 15.4 kW or 21 bhp of power, along with 60 Nm of torque. Thanks to the direct-drive configuration, the motor can produce over 400 Nm of torque at the rear wheel.

This kind of torque figure means the C6 has excellent acceleration in city traffic, while also providing good response at lower and mid-range rpm. The C6 can accelerate from 0-60 kmph in 3.7 seconds, and has a claimed top speed of 115 kmph.

Key specifications:

Battery: 3.91 kWh lithium-ion

Motor power: 21 bhp

Motor torque: 60 Nm

Wheel torque: Over 400 Nm

Top speed: 115 kmph

Claimed range: 154 km (IDC)

Kerb weight: 124 kg

The C6 weighs 124 kg, making it one of the lightest premium electric motorcycles in the market. The low weight will benefit handling, braking, parking, and everyday practicality.

Range and Charging

The C6 has a claimed IDC range of 154 km. This means the C6 is well suited to city commuting, weekend riding, and errand running. However, buyers looking to tour the country will have to plan their rides around charging stations.

Royal Enfield offers three different charging options:

Rapid charging: For faster charging when time permits

Standard charging: For overnight/weekday charging

Trickle charging: Charging via a standard 16A household socket

The ability to charge via a standard household socket is a plus, as it reduces the dependency on public charging infrastructure.

Design: Neo-Retro Styling With Modern Tech

The Flying Flea C6 takes its design cues from the original 1940s ‘flying flea’ motorcycle, but adds in a number of modern touches to give it a unique neo-retro aesthetic. The C6 has a rounded LED headlamp, minimalist panels, and an overall electric motorcycle silhouette.

Despite the retro aesthetic, the C6 has a number of modern features. The bike features a TFT touchscreen display, controllable with a joystick. The bike also has Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and 4G connectivity, along with keyless start, NFC, and smartphone connectivity.

Other features:

Cornering ABS

Traction control

Cruise control

Voice assistance

Carbon belt drive

Three colour options: Storm Black, Flea Green, and Parachute White

The motor uses a carbon belt drive to replace the traditional V-belt, reducing maintenance requirements. This is a significant plus for daily commuters who want to reduce workshop visits.

Battery-as-a-Service: A Lower Entry Price

Royal Enfield is offering two ownership options for the C6. The first is a conventional ownership, where the buyer purchases the bike and the battery for Rs. 2.79 lakh ex-showroom.

The second option, Battery-as-a-Service, allows the buyer to purchase the motorcycle for Rs. 1.99 lakh ex-showroom, and subscribe to a monthly battery rental plan.

While the BaaS option has a lower entry price, buyers should also consider the long-term cost of ownership. Buyers should compare the cost of battery subscriptions with the conventional ownership plan, before making a choice.

Why Hyderabad Matters

Hyderabad becomes the second Indian city to get the Flying Flea C6, following Bengaluru. The expansion strategy suggests that Royal Enfield is adopting a cautious, city-by-city approach, rather than rolling out the electric motorcycle across the country at once.

This approach allows Royal Enfield to build their service infrastructure and customer base in each city before moving on to the next. With four outlets in Hyderabad, buyers in the city have a choice between four different touchpoints.

Should You Buy the Flying Flea C6?

The Flying Flea C6 is targeted at buyers who want a premium electric motorcycle with excellent performance, modern tech, and a unique neo-retro aesthetic.

Buy it if:

You want instant torque and quick city acceleration.

You like neo-retro design with modern tech.

You want a lightweight electric motorcycle for daily use.

You prefer flexible charging, including a standard 16A socket.

You want the lower entry price offered by the BaaS plan.

Think twice if:

You need a long range touring motorcycle.

You want the lowest possible purchase price.

You prefer a conventional petrol motorcycle.

You don’t want to manage battery subscription costs.

With a claimed range of 154 km, a top speed of 115 kmph, over 400 Nm wheel torque, and four new outlets in Hyderabad, the Flying Flea C6 has become much more accessible to city buyers. For Royal Enfield fans looking to switch to electric without losing the brand’s character, the C6 could be one of the most exciting options in India’s premium electric motorcycle segment.
