SWITCH Mobility Ltd, the Hinduja Group’s global electric bus and light commercial vehicle manufacturer, has introduced the all-new SWITCH EiV9 at Prawaas 5.0 in Gandhinagar, further strengthening its presence in India’s fast-evolving electric mass mobility space. Purpose-built on a next‑generation 9‑metre electric bus platform, the EiV9 is designed for city transit, employee transportation and school mobility, with a clear focus on best‑in‑class efficiency, superior passenger comfort and lower total cost of ownership for fleet operators.

A 9-metre platform built for efficiency

The EiV9 has been engineered around efficiency, reliability and overall operating economics, making it a practical option for operators looking to modernize fleets while meeting sustainability targets. Its lightweight architecture is paired with advanced electric driveline technology to improve energy utilization and reduce running costs. Multiple battery pack options allow operators to tailor the bus to specific routes and duty cycles, while regenerative braking helps recover energy during operations and dual-gun CCS2 fast charging supports higher uptime and operational flexibility.

At the heart of the EiV9 is a Permanent Magnet Variable Reluctance (PMVR) motor that delivers up to 213 kW of peak power. This setup is intended to provide smooth acceleration, reliable performance and strong drivability across varied urban conditions. By combining intelligent engineering with mature electric technology, SWITCH aims to give fleet owners a product that strengthens business economics and reduces environmental impact at the same time.

Designed around passenger comfort and safety

Passenger experience is a central pillar of the EiV9’s design. The bus features a spacious cabin with full front and rear air suspension to enhance ride comfort over city roads and longer commuter runs. Ergonomic seating layouts ensure better posture and support, and individual USB charging points at seats allow passengers to keep devices powered throughout the journey. For staff transportation applications, the EiV9 can be configured with pushback seats that offer added comfort on extended routes.

Safety has been built into the vehicle from the ground up. The EiV9 comes equipped with a Fire Detection and Suppression System (FDSS), disc brakes on both front and rear axles, and a robust electric architecture designed for dependable performance across diverse operating environments. This emphasis on safety is particularly important for school and public transit applications, where operators must meet stringent standards while reassuring passengers and authorities about the reliability of electric vehicles.

#SwitchKaro: A campaign to accelerate electric mobility

Alongside the EiV9 launch, SWITCH Mobility unveiled its new brand campaign, #SwitchKaro, positioned as a movement encouraging businesses, fleet owners and transport operators to transition faster towards cleaner, more sustainable mobility. The campaign is rooted in the idea that meaningful change often begins with simple, practical choices-in.
