Along with variants, MG is also offering battery as a service (BaaS) for limited bookings. Under this plan, the Hector Tomahawk EV could be bought with a starting price of ₹13.99 lakh, followed by battery rental at ₹4.90 per kilometre.

With the help of this programme, the initial cost of purchasing the electric SUV gets lowered, making the Hector Tomahawk EV cheaper to purchase. But, you have to pay for the battery usage based on the number of kilometres driven. The final cost of the vehicle will depend upon your annual usage and ownership period.

Battery & Performance

The Hector Tomahawk EV gets equipped with a 69.2kWh MAGIC battery. It runs on a permanent magnet synchronous electric motor with 150kW of power generation capability, equal to around 204PS, and 310Nm of torque.

There is a certified range of 517km of one-time charge. Actual range depends upon many factors such as driving pattern, traffic condition, weather, passenger load, and air conditioning usage.

With 310Nm of torque, the electric SUV is expected to deliver smooth performance in town. Electric motor doesn’t require any gear changing, hence creating smooth driving.

The Hector Tomahawk EV is capable of supporting DC fast charging at a rate of 90kW. Time taken for the charging depends upon battery charge state, ambient temperature, and charger capacity. Also, it supports home charging.

Vehicle to Home Feature

Another interesting feature in the Hector Tomahawk EV is its ability to have a Vehicle-to-Home system. This feature makes the SUV battery be able to power compatible appliances and homes.

The feature could come in handy in case there is a blackout or at an outdoor location where one needs an independent energy source. This is an illustration of how electric vehicles can be used as energy storage devices and not just vehicles for transport.

According to the car manufacturer, the battery has gone through more than 2,000 bench tests and over 490 full-vehicle validation tests. Lifetime high-voltage battery warranty to the first owner is also offered.

Bold and Distinctive Design

The Hector Tomahawk EV is 4,745mm in length and 1,770mm tall. The wheelbase is 2,810mm, and its width with mirrors is 2,130mm.

The SUV offers 230mm of ground clearance, measured from the battery, making it capable of handling speed breakers, rough terrain and uneven roads.

Its design is meant to distinguish the electric SUV from its conventional variants. Its exterior includes Beacon lighting, MG badge illumination, sculpted bumpers and Rotor style alloy wheels.

It has a powered tailgate that will make it easier for loading and unloading luggage. It still manages to maintain a bold exterior design while keeping the upright and spacious profile of a family SUV.

Premium and Practical Cabin Interior

Inside, it gets a 15.6 inches HD infotainment display and an 8.8 inches digital driver’s screen. The large central screen is the hub for the infotainment, navigation, connected car features and vehicle controls.

It also gets a panoramic roof, ventilated front seats, powered front seat adjuster and the driver’s seat memory. The 10 speaker Infinity audio system comes on the top variant, alongside 256 color ambient lighting.

There is a PM2.5 air filtration system too. This system would be very important to those who will be driving in urban polluted areas, as it helps improve the quality of air in the cabin.

The five-seater gets 610 litres of luggage space. On the other hand, the seven-seaters get sliding, reclining and 60:40 split folding seats on the second row. The second row also has a tip and tumble function for access to the third row.

This makes the SUV suitable for family use as well as for travels with lots of luggage. Consumers will have the choice between the five-seater that maximises boot volume or seven-seater that increases passenger capacity.

Connected Features

The MG Hector Tomahawk EV comes equipped with the i-SMART 3.0 connected-car system which has more than 80 connected features.

Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, over-the-air software update capabilities and digital key functionality are among these features. Digital keys enable authorised smartphones to be utilised in locking, unlocking and controlling the car.

Voice assistance in this electric SUV is powered by GenAI and has more than 30 Hinglish commands. The occupants will be able to control some functions using their voice in natural prompts.

Various experience modes are also available to personalise the driving experience and cabin ambience according to the customer’s preferences. This feature together with the connected car system makes the SUV much more interactive.
