Tata Motors has expanded the Curvv range as India’s most value-packed SUV coupé with the introduction of the new Curvv Series X. Starting from ₹9.99 lakh (ex-showroom), Curvv Series X promises to deliver style, performance, premium features and Tata’s signature safety at an affordable price, catering to a value-conscious Indian buyer who is looking for features.

In conjunction with the launch of its revised base model Smart X, Tata has also announced new Pure X+ and Creative X+ personas to deliver increased levels of comfort, technology and luxury at competitive prices.

Pricing and variant structure:

The new Curvv Series X is available across multiple personas and powertrains, with both manual and DCT automatic variants on offer, with petrol, diesel and hybrid variants on offer. The launch highlights include:

Pure X MT (1.2 Revotron): ₹9.99 lakh

Pure X+ (1.2 Kryojet): ₹11.79 lakh

Creative X+ (1.2 Kryojet): ₹12.90 lakh

While higher trims like Accomplished X and Accomplished X+ enter the ₹13–19 lakh bracket, the value proposition remains centred around the sub-₹13 lakh variants.

Pure X and Pure X+: The new value sweet spot

The Pure X persona succeeds Smart X and is geared towards buyers looking to make a significant jump in features without stepping into the premium bracket. Starting at ₹10.99 lakh, Pure X adds:

10.25-inch Ultra View infotainment by HARMAN with Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay

Cruise control

Smart Key with Passive Entry and Passive Start

6-speaker audio system

Fully Automatic Temperature Control (FATC)

LED headlamps and tail lamps

Tata Safety Dome with 6 airbags, ESP and ABS with EBD as standard

For buyers looking for more luxurious touches, Pure X+ is available at ₹11.79 lakh (1.2 Kryojet MT) and adds:

Plus Lux Leatherette Pack with premium Benecke-Kaliko Oyster White leatherette seats

R17 Diamond Cut Alloy Wheels

Higher trims and enhanced interior comfort

The #DARK edition is also available from the Pure persona at ₹11.99 lakh, with blacked-out interior and exterior touches.

Creative X+: Premium features without jumping to top trims

The Creative X+ sits between Pure X+ and Accomplished X, and is geared towards buyers looking to get sunroof, 360° camera and larger screens without having to jump to the top trims. Priced at ₹12.90 lakh (1.2 Kryojet MT), it adds:

AeroView Voice-Assisted Panoramic Sunroof

R18 Diamond Cut Alloy Wheels

360° 3D Surround View Camera with Blind View Monitor

Twin-screen setup: 10.25-inch infotainment by HARMAN + 10.25-inch digital cockpit with navigation

Richer leatherette cabin with reclining rear seats

TPMS, auto headlamps and rain-sensing wipers

Illuminated cooled glove box

This variant effectively brings many “top-spec” features down to the mid-₹12 lakh bracket and makes the Curvv Series X a strong contender against its rivals in the ₹12–15 lakh compact SUV space.

Smart X: Strong base with safety as standard

Even the entry-level Smart X is positioned as a well-equipped option without falling into the trap of being a bare-bones base model. It features:

India’s first R-Comfort Seats with passive ventilation

R17 Aero Style Wheels

Rear armrest with EasySip Cup Docks

Flush door handles and Multi Drive Modes

6 airbags, ESP and ABS with EBD as standard

LED headlamps, DRLs and taillamps

Digital instrument cluster and Reverse Guide Parking Assist

With a starting price of ₹9.99 lakh, Smart X undercuts many of its rivals, while still offering LED lighting, multiple airbags and modern convenience features.

Accomplished X and X+: Tech and safety at the top

For buyers willing to stretch their budget, the Accomplished X and Accomplished X+ deliver near-premium levels of equipment:

L2 ADAS suite for advanced driver assistance

Gesture-controlled powered tailgate (X+)

Sequential Light Saber LED DRLs and taillamps with welcome/goodbye animations

Ambient mood lighting

Ventilated front seats and 6-way powered driver seat

JBL Immersive Sound Suite with 12.3-inch infotainment and 9 speakers

Twin-zone climate control, Breathe IQ air purifier, iRA connected car tech, Alexa integration

Electronic parking brake with auto hold and electrochromatic IRVM

These variants push the Curvv into direct competition with feature-rich compact SUVs and even some mid-size SUVs, especially with the diesel and hybrid powertrain options.

Powertrain options and performance:

The Curvv Series X is available across multiple engine and transmission combinations:

1.2 Revotron petrol (MT/DCT):

Balanced performance and efficiency for city and highway use

1.2 Kryojet petrol (MT/DCT):

More powerful turbo-petrol option for enthusiasts

1.5 Kryojet CRAIL diesel (MT/DCT):

For high-mileage users and diesel loyalists

1.2 Hyperion GDI hybrid (DCT):

For buyers wanting petrol-like drive with improved efficiency

This breadth of choice allows Tata to target a wide audience: first-time buyers, upgraders from hatchbacks, diesel commuters and tech-focused customers looking for automatics and hybrids.

Design and safety:

The Curvv’s SUV coupé silhouette remains its biggest visual differentiator, with a sloping roofline, muscled shoulders and modern LED lighting signatures. The Series X maintains this design language while adding new wheel designs, #DARK edition styling and more premium interior materials in higher trims.

Safety remains a key selling point, with all variants coming with the Tata Safety Dome philosophy, including:

6 airbags, ESP and ABS with EBD as standard

Strong body structure and crash-focused engineering

Advanced driver aids on top trims (L2 ADAS, 360° camera, blind view monitor)

Market positioning and competition:

With a starting price of ₹9.99 lakh and a loaded mid-spec at around ₹12–13 lakh, the Curvv Series X targets:

Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyrynder, Honda Elevate and Volkswagen Taigun in the ₹10–18 lakh bracket

Buyers looking for features-per-rupee rather than badge prestige

Families looking for a stylish SUV with strong safety credentials and multiple powertrain choices

The split of the lineup into personas (Smart, Pure, Creative and Accomplished) makes it easier for the buyer to choose based on budget and feature priorities rather than getting lost in a long variant list.

Why Curvv Series X matters:

The Curvv Series X reinforces Tata’s strategy of delivering high feature content at aggressive prices, similar to what it has done with the Nexon and Punch. Starting under ₹10 lakh with LED lights, 6 airbags and modern design, and then offering sunroof, 360° camera and large screens by the ₹12–13 lakh mark, Tata is clearly looking to reset expectations in the SUV coupé segment.

For Indian buyers, the Curvv Series X now offers a compelling proposition: SUV style, strong safety credentials, multiple powertrains and a long list of features, all at a price that undercuts its competitors.
