The C-segment sedan war in India just got more interesting.

Skoda Auto India has launched the 2026 Slavia facelift at a punchy Rs. 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom). This mid-life update is intended to directly target the recently updated Honda City, the feature-laden Hyundai Verna and the value-conscious Volkswagen Virtus. With a brand new 8-speed automatic, segment-first rear massage seats and larger digital screens, the Slavia facelift aims to reclaim its position as the driver’s sedan.

Exterior Design: Sharper and More Assertive

The 2026 Slavia retains its silhouette but gets a few subtle design tweaks that sharpen its road presence. The front fascia gets a revised hexagonal grille with a prominent chrome surround and updated horizontal slats. The LED headlights get a new dual-element DRL signature, while the bumper gets larger air intakes and integrated fog lamps (on higher variants) to reduce the height of the car.

The rear gets new LED tailights with a different light guide sequence, while the boot lid gets a lip spoiler. The chrome strip connecting the tailights is wider. New 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels with a two-tone finish and two new paint options (Titanium Grey Metallic and Candy White) round out the exterior updates.

Interior and Technology: The Digital Leap

The interior gets a major upgrade that brings it close to European rivals. The 10.1-inch HD touchscreen infotainment system is bigger than the previous 10-inch unit and now supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. For the first time, it also gets built-in Google Assistant and Skoda Connect with over 40 connected car features.

The analog speedometer is replaced by a new 10.25-inch TFT digital instrument cluster that can be programmed to show navigation guidance, trip information and safety alerts. The segment-first rear massage seats is a big plus. Combined with ventilated front seats, electrically adjustable driver’s seat with memory and a single-pane sunroof, it can rival cars that cost twice as much.

The 360-degree camera with multiple viewing angles (top down, front, rear and side) comes on the mid-spec Style variant, while the top-spec Signature variant adds a panoramic sunroof and a Bang & Olufsen sound system.

Engine and Transmission: The 8-Speed Game Changer

The Slavia facelift retains its established turbo-petrol engines, but the transmission options have been significantly upgraded.

1.0-Litre TSI Petrol:

Power: 115 PS @ 5000 – 5500 rpm

Torque: 178 Nm @ 1750 – 4000 rpm

Transmission Options: 6-speed Manual or NEW 8-speed Torque Converter Automatic

Mileage: 18.5 kmpl (Manual) / 19.2 kmpl (Automatic)

The biggest change is the replacement of the old 6-speed automatic with a new 8-speed torque converter automatic. This transmission offers smoother gear shifts and better fuel efficiency, while also being more robust.

1.5-Litre TSI Petrol:

Power: 150 PS @ 5000 – 6000 rpm

Torque: 250 Nm @ 1600 – 3500 rpm

Transmission: 7-speed DSG (Dual-Clutch Automatic)

Mileage: 19.5 kmpl

The larger engine continues to pair with the 7-speed DSG, which is one of the quickest-acting gearboxes in the segment.

Safety: 5-Star Global NCAP Rating

The Slavia facelift continues to build on its 5-star Global NCAP safety rating. All variants get standard 6 airbags (front, side and curtain), ABS with EBD, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Hill Start Assist, ISOFIX child seat mounts and Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS).

Higher variants get Level 2 ADAS features (on select trims) including Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keep Assist, Front Assist with Autonomous Emergency Braking and Blind Spot Detection.

Pricing and Variants

The 2026 Skoda Slavia is available in four variants: Active, Ambition, Style and Signature.

Expected Ex-Showroom Pricing (India):

1.0 TSI Active MT: ₹9.99 Lakh

1.0 TSI Ambition AT: ₹11.50 Lakh

1.0 TSI Style AT: ₹13.50 Lakh

1.0 TSI Signature AT: ₹15.00 Lakh

1.5 TSI Style DSG: ₹15.50 Lakh

1.5 TSI Signature DSG: ₹17.50 Lakh

Competition and Market Position

The Slavia facelift will face off against the Honda City, Hyundai Verna, Volkswagen Virtus and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz.

Vs. City: The Slavia counters with turbo engines, superior build quality and better driving dynamics.

Vs. Verna: The Slavia offers better rear seat comfort and massage seats.

Vs. Virtus: While the Slavia is slightly more expensive than the Virtus, it offers better features and more premium cabin.

The 2026 Skoda Slavia facelift is a comprehensive update that builds upon the car’s strengths while addressing its weaknesses. With the new 8-speed automatic, rear massage seats and larger digital screens, the car offers a level of sophistication that is hard to match in the sub-₹18 lakh segment. For the buyer who values engineering excellence over badge value, the Slavia remains the default choice.
