Powertrain options and performance

The Curvv series x is offered in a variety of powertrain options to cater to a wide range of buyers, including:

1.2 Revotron petrol (MT/DCT): Balanced performance and efficiency

1.2 Kryojet petrol (MT/DCT): More powerful turbo-petrol

1.5 Kryojet CRAIL diesel (MT/DCT): For high-mileage users and diesel loyalists

1.2 Hyperion GDI hybrid (DCT): For buyers looking for petrol-like drive with improved efficiency

This diverse range allows Tata to appeal to a wide range of buyers, from first-time car buyers to upgraders from hatchbacks, commuters looking for diesel engines, and tech-savvy customers looking for automatics and hybrids.

Design and safety: Core Curvv strengths

The curvv series x’s SUV coupé silhouette is one of its primary visual differentiators, with a sloping roofline, muscular shoulders and modern LED lighting signatures. The Series X offers new wheel designs, #DARK edition styling and more premium interior materials in higher trims.

Safety remains a key selling point, with all variants incorporating the Tata Safety Dome philosophy, including:

6 airbags, ESP and ABS with EBD as standard

Strong body structure and crash-focused engineering

Advanced driver aids on top trims (L2 ADAS, 360° camera, blind view monitor)

Market positioning and competition

With a starting price of ₹9.99 lakh and a loaded mid-spec around ₹12-13 lakh, the curvv series x targets:

Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyrynder, Honda Elevate and Volkswagen Taigun in the ₹10-18 lakh band

Buyers looking to prioritise features over badge value

Families looking for a stylish SUV with strong safety credentials and multiple powertrain options

By segmenting the range into personas (Smart, Pure, Creative and Accomplished), Tata makes it easier for customers to choose according to their budget and desired features, rather than getting lost in a long list of variants.

Why curvv series x matters

The curvv series x reinforces Tata’s strategy of offering high feature content at aggressive prices, similar to what it has done with the Nexon and Punch. Starting below ₹10 lakh with LED lights, 6 airbags and modern design, and offering sunroof, 360° camera and large displays by the ₹12-13 lakh mark, Tata is clearly aiming to reset expectations. For Indian buyers, the curvv series x offers a compelling proposition of SUV style, strong safety credentials and multiple powertrain options at a price that undercuts many established rivals.
