The Indian automaker BYD has introduced a new Dynamic variant of the Sealion 7 electric SUV, bringing down the price of this model by ₹8 lakh. The starting price of the new variant starts at ₹41.90 lakh, ex-showroom, as against ₹49.90 lakh for the Premium variant.
The new variant is being introduced by BYD in its “Celebrate Your Dreams With BYD” festival. This variant is expected to bring down the cost of BYD’s flagship electric SUV making it more accessible to customers looking for a premium SUV which comes with strong performance, advanced technology and long-range capability.
The BYD Sealion 7 electric SUV was introduced in the Indian market in February 2025. With the arrival of the new variant, BYD now has a significantly cheaper model among the electric SUVs which is equipped with comfort, safety and convenience features.

Smaller Battery for New Variant
The reason behind the reduction in the cost of the new variant is the size of the battery pack that has been used in this model. While the other two variants, Premium and Performance, have 82.56 kWh batteries, the new Dynamic variant gets 71.8 kWh battery pack.
Despite having the smaller battery, the new variant still provides a claimed range of 520km. The model gets a single rear-mounted electric motor that delivers a power of 231 bhp. According to the company, it takes 7.3 seconds for the electric SUV to reach a speed of 100 kmph from 0 kmph.
This much of performance is quite sufficient for daily use and highway driving. Rear-wheel-drive configuration gives the dynamic variant a more conventional character as compared to the other front-wheel-drive electric SUVs.
This smaller battery might help the buyer in bringing down the purchase cost as well as the weight of the SUV. However, the buyer will have to compromise on the range of the new variant, which is lower as compared to the Premium variant.
Difference Among the Variants
As far as the current line of Sealion 7 is concerned, the range consists of three variants that include Dynamic, Premium and Performance variants. Each of these variants features different powertrains and packages.
Starting with the Premium variant, this mid-spec car gets a single rear-mounted motor with a power output of 313bhp. The range offered by this car is said to be 567km and the vehicle accelerates from 0 to 100kmph in 6.7 seconds.
Going to the Performance variant, this top-end model has a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup that offers a power output of up to 530bhp and completes the 0-100kmph run in 4.5 seconds. The Performance variant claims to offer a range of 542km.
It means that the Dynamic variant focuses on the affordable price tag, while Premium variant offers a high range and the Performance one aims at delivering pure acceleration with an all-wheel-drive.
Limited Exterior Changes
Speaking of exterior design, the Dynamic variant is quite similar to the Premium and Performance versions of the Sealion 7. In particular, this vehicle maintains the design of the SUV, coupe-like profile and special lighting.
The main change is in the smaller 19-inch alloy wheels. While the higher versions have bigger wheels, which make them look more aggressive.
Moreover, there are some changes made to the braking hardware. The Dynamic version does not get drilled brake discs but rather uses floating-type calipers. These changes help to cut costs without changing the exterior design of the car.

The new base model retains the LED headlights and the same design as the higher variants.
Reduced Charging Capabilities
As far as the charging capabilities of the BYD Sealion 7 Dynamic are concerned, they have been lowered compared to the Premium and Performance variants.
In particular, the entry-level model gets the ability to charge the battery via 7kW AC and up to 110kW DC. In contrast to this, the higher versions of the SUV have charging capabilities of 11kW AC and up to 150kW DC.
Actual charging time would be based on battery SOC, charger capability and temperature and other variables. Buyers who regularly go on long drives may opt for the fast charging system that comes with the higher variants.
Features Cut Down in Dynamic
BYD had to cut down on some of the features to offer the Dynamic variant at a reduced price. For instance, the car does not come equipped with a driver monitoring camera, head-up display, or hands-free opening function for the powered tailgate.
In addition, the Dynamic variant lacks auto tilt and memory functions for the outside rear-view mirrors. In the cabin, the car misses a leather-wrapped steering wheel, leather seats, memory function for driver seat, powered lumbar support and powered leg rest.
There is a reduction in the number of speakers from 12 to 10. The PM2.5 air filter and mood lighting is not found on the new entry-level variant.
The missing features are mostly premium in nature since the car misses on luxury equipment. Some buyers who wish to own a luxurious vehicle may prefer buying either the Premium or Performance variant.
Great Feature Package Available
Although the Sealion 7 Dynamic misses some of the features, it still has quite a long list of features. The car has a huge 15.6-inch rotatable infotainment screen and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster.
The SUV also comes equipped with powered and ventilated front seats, 360-degree camera, and Level 2 advanced driver assistance systems. The safety features are provided through 11 airbags, thus, the Dynamic variant has an impressive safety package for its category.
Glass roof is available on the car to make the interior luxurious. Other available features include LED lighting and connectivity technology.
The above equipment list makes the Dynamic variant more appealing than the entry-level one. This is because buyers will still enjoy the core design, electric performance, safety systems and other technology from the car.
Competing with other Premium Electric SUVs
With a pricing of ₹41.90 lakh ex-showroom, the BYD Sealion 7 Dynamic would be competing with other electric SUVs like the BMW iX1 LWB, Hyundai Ioniq 5, Kia EV6, Volvo EX40 and other premium EVs.
The new model has created an additional window for BYD to draw customers who might have found the Sealion 7 out of their budget range. The claimed range of 520 km, rear-wheel drive, and the power output of 231 bhp form a well-balanced combination for those who want to buy a high-end electric SUV.
Through this change of reducing the cost by ₹8 lakh, the automaker has made the Sealion 7 more desirable while offering its Premium and Performance variants for customers who want more range, fast-charging, or superior performance.
