The Sporty SUV That Could Make Toyota RAV4 Look BORING!

Hyundai has unveiled the new Tucson N Line at Paris Motor Show 2026, offering its popular midsize SUV a sportier identity. The N Line version features aggressive styling, exclusive 20-inch alloy wheels, and a powerful plug-in hybrid producing 288 hp.

The attention-grabbing Tucson N Line PHEV variant uses a 1.6-litre turbo-petrol engine, an electric motor, and a 17.1 kWh battery, despite the 20-inch wheels, Hyundai claims up to 67 km of electric range. The new Tucson N Line is expected to reach global markets from 2027, though Hyundai hasn’t confirmed the launch in India.

Powertrain: Three Options, One Sporty SUV

The Tucson N Line is offered multiple powertrain options, allowing buyers to choose between efficiency, hybrid performance, and plug-in hybrid capability.

Powertrain Engine / Battery Output Transmission Drivetrain

Mild hybrid 1.6-litre T-GDi petrol with 48V mild-hybrid system 148 hp 7-speed DCT Front-wheel drive

Full hybrid 1.6-litre T-GDi petrol, electric motor, 1.49 kWh battery 242 hp 6-speed automatic FWD / AWD

Plug-in hybrid 1.6-litre T-GDi petrol, electric motor, 17.1 kWh battery 288 hp / 292 PS Automatic FWD / AWD

The PHEV is the most powerful version, producing 380 Nm of torque capable of delivering strong acceleration and the ability to travel short distances on electric power alone. Hyundai claims up to 67 km of electric range with the N Line’s 20-inch wheels.

The plug-in hybrid also features a 7.2 kW onboard charger, making home and public AC charging more convenient. The all-wheel-drive PHEV is likely the quickest version, with a claimed 0-100 kmph time of 7.9 seconds.

Sporty N Line Styling

While the Tucson N Line doesn’t receive a power upgrade over the standard PHEV, it receives a significant style upgrade. Hyundai has included exclusive N Line design elements enhancing the Tucson’s appearance and providing a lower, wider, and more athletic stance.

Exterior highlights:

Exclusive 20-inch alloy wheels

N Line badges on the front facia and front wings

More angular front bumper

Pronounced chin spoiler

Aerodynamic air ducts

Sportier rear bumper treatment

Black roof option

Grey exterior paint with black-and-silver wheel finish on the show car

The 20-inch wheels are a major visual upgrade, filling the wheel arches well and giving the Tucson N Line a much more premium and performance-oriented look than the standard SUV.

Interior: Sport Seats and Big Screens

In the interior, the Tucson N Line features a more driver-focused cabin with sporty detailing and Hyundai’s latest technology.

Interior highlights:

N Line sport seats with suede upholstery

Red contrast stitching and accents

N Line steering wheel and detailing

Pleos Connect infotainment system based on Android Automotive OS

12.9-inch or 17-inch central touchscreen

9.9-inch digital driver display

Gleo AI voice recognition with live internet data access

Over-the-air software updates

The larger 17-inch touchscreen is a major highlight, providing the cabin with a futuristic feel and easier access to navigation, media, and vehicle settings.

Practicality Is Not Forgotten

While the N Line may look sporty, the Tucson still maintains its practicality as a family SUV. It continues with a 4:2:4 folding rear seat arrangement, enabling the buyers to carry their long items while still seating their passengers.

The second-row seats also slide by up to 150 mm, providing flexibility in legroom or boot space. Depending on the version, the Tucson offers a towing capacity of up to 1,910 kg with the Trailer Reversing Assist.

This makes the Tucson N Line more than just a style upgrade, maintaining the everyday usability that the buyers expect of a midsize SUV.

Safety and Driver Assistance

Hyundai is likely to equip the Tucson N Line with its latest advanced driver assistance systems. Expected features include:

Forward collision-avoidance assist

Junction-turning collision avoidance

Lane-keeping assist

Blind-spot monitoring

Driver attention warning

Emergency stop signalling

Front and rear parking sensors

Head-up display

These features should make the Tucson N Line not only a sporty SUV, but also suitable for the daily family use and long highway stretches.

India Launch: Not Confirmed Yet

Hyundai has not confirmed whether the new Tucson N Line will be launched in India. The standard Tucson is sold in India as a CBU, and the N Line version would likely be much more expensive if brought in.

If Hyundai brings it in, the Tucson N Line PHEV could be positioned as a premium performance hybrid SUV, but the price could be significantly higher than the current Tucson.
