Mercedes-Benz C-Class has undergone an official unveiling of the facelift version, which was expected in 2026. The updated car gets a number of changes, starting from S-Class-inspired styling to advanced petrol, diesel, and plug-in hybrid engines, as well as an interior tech overhaul with an AI assistant. As for Indian bookings, they will be open after August 18, 2026, the date when global ones are going to start.

Exterior: Inspired by S-Class and EQE, sharper design language
As it happens in most mid-cycle redesigns, one of the most noticeable differences lies in the front-end appearance of the car. The new C-Class gets the larger, more upright grille with a star-pattern mesh, along with slimmer LED headlights which were inspired by the latest S-Class and EQE.

As for the rear end, the new taillights with the 3D helix design pattern and a new chrome strip running across the boot lid create a wider look of the sedan. For AMG Line versions, there will be more aggressive bumpers, larger air intake elements and a choice of new alloy wheels up to 19 inches.

Engine: M254 2.0-liter replaces 1.5-liter, PHEVs get boosted
There have been significant changes to the C-Class engines list, including a reduction to two petrol and one diesel engines. Here is the full engine line-up:

C 200 (base petrol): The 1.5-liter turbo engine has been replaced by the detuned M254 EVO 2.0-liter turbo-petrol engine with 48V mild-hybrid technology and a lower power output due to Euro 7 standards (around 174 hp compared to 200 hp of the predecessor), but with a more powerful torque thanks to the electrically-driven compressor.

C 300 (high-end petrol): The 2.0-liter turbo engine now delivers up to 301 hp and 400 Nm of torque, with the ISG adding an extra 23 hp and 151 lb-ft of torque in certain markets.

Diesel: There is still an option for the 2.0-liter four-cylinder diesel engine with two states of tune – 161 bhp and 197 bhp. This engine is aimed at those who travel many miles.

Plug-in hybrid (PHEV): Both C 300 e and C 400 e 4MATIC received a boost. The latter combines a 2.0-liter petrol engine and a 100 kW electric motor with 19.53 kWh battery to deliver a total of up to 385 bhp and a pure-electric range of around 100 km (62 miles).

The new models have 9G-Tronic automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive as standard. There’s 4MATIC all-wheel drive on some high-end variants and plug-in hybrids.

Interior & Tech: Artificial intelligence, enlarged displays, S-Class cabin experience
The interior of the C-Class receives one of the largest upgrades in the form of the new generation of the MBUX infotainment system that utilizes artificial intelligence.

Display: Standard equipment includes 12.3-inch digital instruments panel and 11.9-inch central display that is slightly angled towards the driver.

AI assistant: Integration with ChatGPT, Microsoft Bing, and Google Gemini makes voice commands much more sophisticated and allows asking such questions as “Find a Italian restaurant near my next meeting location”.

Connectivity: Standard equipment also features wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, over-the-air (OTA) updates, and Mercedes me connect services.

Chassis & Safety: Improved dynamics and driver assistance systems
According to Mercedes-Benz, the company has revised the suspension to improve the car dynamics while keeping comfort. Some of the main highlights include:

Rear-axle steering (optional): reduces the turning radius at low speeds and improves stability at high speed;

Driver assistance systems: level 2+ ADAS equipped with adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, blind spot detection, active braking assist, featuring eight cameras and five radars for MB.DRIVE systems;

Safety: several airbags (including rear side and curtain airbags), PRE-SAFE system, and attention assist are present as standard equipment.
