Nissan Motor India has unveiled the all-new Nissan TEKTON at its world premiere in India, marking a major moment in the company’s ongoing comeback strategy. Positioned as a premium C-SUV, the TEKTON is being presented as the flagship proof point of Nissan’s next chapter in the Indian market. With bold design, a 100 percent turbocharged engine line-up, advanced connectivity, strong safety tech and a clear export role, the TEKTON is meant to do more than just add another model to Nissan’s portfolio it is meant to rebuild the brand’s presence and relevance in one of the most competitive SUV segments in the country.
The TEKTON’s design draws inspiration from the legendary Nissan Patrol, one of Nissan’s most iconic SUVs globally. That heritage is reflected in the TEKTON’s commanding proportions, sculpted lines, muscular arches, full-width chrome grille, signature C-shaped LED headlamps and strong rear styling. Nissan is using this design language to create what it calls an unmistakable road presence. The SUV’s stance is meant to communicate strength, confidence and premium appeal while also carrying the spirit of adventure associated with the Patrol name. For a market like India, where visual impact plays a huge role in buying decisions, this kind of design-led positioning could be a major strength.
Inside, Nissan has focused on making the TEKTON feel more upscale and more driver-oriented than a typical midsize SUV. The cabin uses premium leatherette, soft-touch materials, bespoke stitching and a tri-tone theme with beige, burgundy and rose gold accents. The dashboard has been designed around the driver, with a double D-cut steering wheel, dual digital displays, an elevated centre console and a fly-by-wire e-shifter. The aim is to make the cabin feel both modern and luxurious, while still remaining practical for daily family use. Active comfort seats with powered, ventilated and lumbar-adjustable support are also part of the package, which should help the TEKTON stand out in a segment where comfort has become as important as performance.
One of the most important areas where the TEKTON tries to differentiate itself is connectivity. Nissan has equipped the SUV with Google built-in, which brings Google Maps, Google Assistant and access to more than 200 apps through Google Play. The vehicle also gets a 25.65 cm infotainment screen, a 26.03 cm digital cockpit and more than 55 connected features through the MyNISSAN app. This allows owners to use voice commands, access live navigation, manage vehicle functions and personalise the driving experience in a way that is becoming increasingly important to Indian buyers. In a market where digital convenience influences purchase decisions, TEKTON’s tech package should resonate strongly with younger and tech-savvy customers.
The SUV also focuses heavily on practicality. Nissan claims class-leading boot space of 700 litres, which is a major advantage for families and long-distance travellers. The TEKTON also offers 212 mm ground clearance and strong approach and departure angles, helping it cope with Indian road conditions more confidently. Features like a powered tailgate, 360-degree parking assist, smart access, approach unlock, walkaway lock and an around-view monitor add to the everyday convenience. These touches may seem small individually, but together they make the TEKTON feel more polished and more thoughtfully engineered for Indian usage patterns.
Under the bonnet, the TEKTON uses a fully turbocharged engine line-up consisting of the Turbo T160 and Turbo T280. The T280 is the stronger option, producing up to 163 PS and 280 Nm of torque, while the T160 is tuned for efficiency and smoother everyday performance. Nissan says the T160 delivers a claimed 19.4 kmpl, while the T280 returns 18.5 kmpl. Both engines use Nissan’s GT-R-derived Mirror Bore Coating technology, which is designed to reduce internal friction and improve both efficiency and performance. The T280 is available with a 6-speed wet-clutch DCT with E-shifter, while manual transmission options are also available. This gives Nissan a broad powertrain spread while maintaining a performance-focused identity.
Safety is another major highlight. The TEKTON comes with six airbags as standard, more than 40 safety features and a body structure built with 62 percent high-strength steel. It also includes over 17 advanced driver assistance systems, such as adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, autonomous emergency braking, forward collision warning, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, blind spot warning, driver attention alert and traffic sign recognition. These features place the TEKTON firmly in the new generation of safety-led SUVs and should appeal to buyers who value active safety as much as design and performance.
Nissan is also positioning the TEKTON as an important export product under its “One Car, One World” philosophy. Manufactured at the Chennai plant, the SUV will be sold in India and exported to markets such as the Middle East and Africa. That makes the TEKTON strategically important not only for domestic sales but also for Nissan’s global manufacturing footprint. It reinforces India’s role as a production and export hub for the company at a time when the brand is looking to sharpen its regional competitiveness.
Pricing has been set aggressively. The T160 manual starts at ₹10.49 lakh, while the T280 range starts at ₹14.99 lakh. The top-end TEKTON Tekna+ T280 DCT is priced at ₹18.59 lakh. Bookings are now open across Nissan’s retail network and digital platforms. With this launch, Nissan is clearly aiming to re-establish itself as a serious SUV player in India through a product that combines heritage-inspired design, modern technology and practical premium appeal.
