Mahindra Racing has made history in a season finale to be recalled for years to come. The Indian company finished third in the 2025-26 FIA Formula E Teams’ Championship as a result of a double podium performance at the London E-Prix, which is the best result for the manufacturer in the all-electric world series.

A historical season for Mahindra Racing

This season is considered to be the most successful one in terms of Mahindra. During 17 rounds held in cities like Tokyo, London, and many others, the team scored two wins, seven podium finishes, and five pole positions with the largest number of points per season . It allowed Mahindra to outperform many established brands such as Andretti, Citroën, Nissan, and DS Penske. Only Jaguar and Porsche could end the season above Mahindra.

The fact is particularly noteworthy since this result equals Mahindra’s best position in the championship, but unlike the 2016-17 season, the company has managed to score the largest number of points and demonstrate great consistency.

Historic double podium at London

The season ended for the Indian manufacturer at the ExCeL London circuit on August 16, 2026. The final two races  decided the destiny of teams’ fight for the title. Coming into the final round, Mahindra occupied the fourth position being 13 points behind the Andretti, who held the third position.

At the final race of the season, Mahindra showed impressive results. Nyck de Vries finished second and Edoardo Mortara took third position thus scoring a double podium. It provided the team 42 points in the final London E-Prix making their total 252 and giving them enough points to take the third place in the final classification table being ahead of Andretti.

Besides, it’s necessary to highlight that Mahindra managed to secure a historic front row lockout in the qualifying for the last race, which is a special moment for the team in light of the end of the Gen3 era of Formula E.

Performance of Drivers: Mortara and de Vries stand out

In the race to the championship, Edoardo Mortara secured the fifth position with 137 points, whereas Nyck de Vries ended up at the ninth place after securing 94 points following his wins in Tokyo and podium in London. It is worth noting that their consistency and driving skills were the key factors in the performance of Mahindra as Mortara was usually leading the race and de Vries was demonstrating masterclass during all the events, which resulted in his win in Tokyo E-Prix in July.

What this means for India and Mahindra

First of all, for motorsport fans in India, it is a huge achievement for the national team. It should be stated that Mahindra is the only Indian brand competing in single-seater electric cars alongside such powerful competitors as Jaguar, Porsche, and Andretti.

In addition to the trophy, this performance is an evidence of the technological advancement and ambitions of Mahindra, which will prove to be crucial for the development of high-technology mobility and electric vehicles.

The future of Mahindra Racing

As for the Gen3 generation of electric cars in Formula E, there will be some new rules in the nearest future along with possibly new cars. Thus, Mahindra has an excellent chance to fight for podiums and championships in Gen3 Evo or even Gen4 era.

In conclusion, it should be stated that Mahindra Racing is not only taking part in the Formula E but also is competing at the highest level.
