HYUNDAI TUCSON

15,045 ORDERS IN 24 HOURS, 245 HP HYBRID & 17-INCH SCREEN TO MAKE KIA SPORTAGE OBSOLETE!

Hyundai Motor reports a huge number of pre-orders for the all-new fifth-generation Tucson on the day of its launch in South Korea. The automaker recorded a total of 15,045 orders, beating the previous first-day Tucson record set by the fourth-generation model by over 4,200 units.

The new Tucson is the best-selling model in terms of pre-orders due to its improved performance, enhanced driving and safety, increased equipment, and larger cabin. Hyundai credited the demand to the value provided by the Tucson in terms of driving performance, safety, and convenience functions with cutting-edge technology.

A RECORD-BREAKING Tucson

Hyundai Motor registered 15,045 contracts for the all-new Tucson on October 21, 2026 – the first day of order-taking. It marked the most number of first-day pre-orders for any Tucson variant to date, beating the 10,842 first-day orders recorded by the fourth-generation Tucson in South Korea in September 2020.

Fourth-gen Tucson (2020) 5th-gen Tucson (2026)

First-day pre-orders 10,842 15,045

Despite the price of the new Tucson being higher by approximately 3 million won compared to the previous model, the demand for the new Tucson came in strongly. The majority of Tucson buyers are expected to be Inspiration trim owners as this is the most desirable segment in terms of value.

Trim Share of orders Share of orders

(Previous gen) (Current gen)

Inspiration (top) 29% 44%

H-Pick (base) 33%

Exclusive (mid) 22%

XRT (Exclusive-based) 1%

The Inspiration trim accounts for 44% of the total pre-orders, compared to the 29% recorded for the previous Tucson. The H-Pick base model accounts for 33%, while the Exclusive mid-range trim garners 22% of the total pre-orders. The XRT Exclusive-based sport model with unique exterior details only accounts for 1% of pre-orders.

The large share of Inspiration pre-orders suggests that Tucson buyers want the most desirable trim with the most features, including the 17-inch display, Highway Driving Assist 2, and dual wireless charging.

Hybrid Tucson offers 17.4 km/L on average with 17-inch wheels and 2WD. Meanwhile, the petrol Tucson comes with a larger turbocharger which increases maximum power by 13 PS to 193 PS. It also features an 8-speed automatic gearbox, compared to the 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox of the previous model.
