Hyundai is set to unleash a slew of new SUVs in India, targeting both electric and internal combustion engine (ICE) segments, with plans to introduce 26 new models and significant upgrades by 2030, as per the Korean carmaker.

Hyundai Motor India has laid out an ambitious plan for India, targeting 26 new launches and upgrades by 2030, with more than 50% of the volume coming from green technologies, viz electric and hybrid vehicles, apart from ICE automobiles. The company aims to benefit from the tremendous growth potential of the SUV segment which contributes close to 70% of Hyundai’s sales in India. The carmaker is targeting to re-enter the top 2 in terms of sales volume in India through these strategic SUV launches.

1. Compact EV SUV (HE1i) – Q4 2026
Hyundai’s first ever India-specific electric vehicle (EV) will debut in the country in late 2026. The HE1i, as the model is internally codenamed, is likely to be smaller than the Creta Electric and challenge the Tata Punch EV and Maruti’s forthcoming EVs in the highly competitive entry-level segment.
Some of the key expectations from the HE1i:
The car is set to be launched on a dedicated EV platform which will allow superior packaging and space utilisation
It should offer a range of 250-300 km on ARAI cycle which should be sufficient for weekend cruising

2. Mid-size ICE SUV (BC4i) – Late 2026/Early 2027
Hyundai’s next important launch will be the BC4i, a petrol/CNG-based mid-size SUV which will slot between the Venue and the Creta in the company’s India-specific SUV line-up. It will directly take on the Maruti Fronx and Tata Nexon in the competitive mid-size SUV segment.
Some of the key expectations from the BC4i:
The car is set to adopt Hyundai’s latest design language and feature a connected car cockpit with ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) and panoramic sunroof in the top trims
It will likely be offered with a 1.0L turbo-petrol and 1.2L naturally aspirated engine with CNG option
The petrol automatic variant should come at a price-tag cheaper than the Creta, while the top-spec diesel variant might rival the Creta’s feature list
3. Next-gen Creta (2027): Hybrid Powertrain In Works
The third-gen Creta which is set to debut in 2027 will be based on the same platform as the Kia Seltos (K3). Hyundai is considering a strong-hybrid option for the popular Creta which will help the carmaker meet the growing demand for hybrid SUVs in the country.
4. Premium 7-seater SUV (Ni1i): After 2027
Hyundai’s premium 7-seater SUV which will likely slot above the Alcazar, will be based on the KIA Sportage (Tucson) platform. The carmaker is eyeing to capitalise on the growth in demand for premium 7-seater SUVs in India. The Ni1i, as the model is internally codenamed, might be launched after 2027.
