Renault India has refreshed the Kwid with updated design, a simplified variant line-up and a sharper pricing strategy, aiming to make first car ownership more straightforward for Indian buyers. The New Kwid arrives with Renault’s latest brand identity, clearer variant choices and a stronger value proposition, especially for first time customers who want an affordable car without compromising on style or features.

The company has streamlined the model range into just two variants, Evolution and Climber, making the buying process easier to understand. This move is designed to reduce confusion and help customers choose more quickly, especially new buyers who are often comparing affordability, features and ease of ownership at the same time. With prices starting at ₹4.52 lakh and the fully loaded Climber available at an effective transactional price of ₹4.99 lakh through an online benefit, Renault is positioning the Kwid as one of the most accessible yet feature rich options in the entry hatchback space.

Francisco Hidalgo, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Renault India, said that owning a first car remains an important milestone for millions of Indians. He noted that the country’s growing middle class and a large base of two wheeler owners looking to upgrade continue to make first car ownership a strong aspiration. He added that more than 4.5 lakh Indian customers have started their journey with the Kwid, and the brand wants to build on that trust by making the product simpler, clearer and more relevant.

Since its launch in 2015, the Renault Kwid has helped redefine the entry hatchback segment by bringing SUV inspired styling and a more youthful appeal to a category that was once seen as purely functional. Over the years it has gained a reputation as a practical city car that also looks more aspirational than many of its rivals. The new update continues that approach, but with a stronger focus on clarity, ease of purchase and digital convenience.

One of the most notable changes is the introduction of Renault’s new brand identity on the Kwid, which gives the car a fresher and more modern look. Combined with the simplified range and online pricing strategy, the car is now being presented as a more intuitive ownership choice. Renault is also promoting a digital purchase benefit of ₹15,000 on the Climber variant, which helps bring the price of the fully loaded version down to ₹4.99 lakh. That pricing angle should be attractive to budget conscious buyers who still want a feature rich car.

The New Kwid is now available across Renault dealerships in India as well as through the company’s online sales platform. This dual channel approach reflects the growing importance of digital buying in India’s auto market, where many customers now begin their search online before finalizing a purchase at a dealership. By offering a more seamless digital journey, Renault is hoping to match the expectations of younger and first time customers who value convenience as much as price.

The car’s feature list remains one of its strongest selling points. It offers SUV inspired design with high ground clearance, a best in segment 184 mm ride height and a boot space of 279 litres, which is impressive for an entry level hatchback. These practical strengths make it suitable for city use as well as weekend family trips, especially for buyers who need a car that can handle a variety of everyday tasks.

Safety and convenience have also been given priority. The Kwid comes with 17 standard safety features, including dual front airbags, ABS with EBD and seat belt reminders. It also includes an 8 inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a fully digital LED instrument cluster, rear view camera with guidelines, remote keyless entry, central locking, power windows and power steering. These features help the Kwid stay competitive in a segment where buyers increasingly expect more value even at lower price points.

The 1.0 litre petrol engine continues to power the model, offering a balance of performance and fuel efficiency. Buyers can choose between a 5 speed manual and an Easy R AMT transmission, depending on their preference for control or convenience. The AMT variants also get a rotary dial gear selector, which adds to the ease of use in city traffic. Renault has also added dual tone interiors, Climber specific exterior detailing, wheel arch cladding and rugged styling elements to strengthen the SUV like appeal.

For urban buyers, the Kwid’s compact dimensions make it easy to maneuver in traffic and tight parking spaces. That, combined with its ground clearance and practical boot, has long helped it stand out among entry hatchbacks. The refreshed model keeps those strengths intact while making the offering feel more modern and easier to navigate from a buying perspective.

Overall, the New Renault Kwid is less about a dramatic reinvention and more about making first car ownership feel simpler, smarter and more rewarding. By combining refreshed styling, clear variant choices, strong features and competitive pricing, Renault is hoping to strengthen the Kwid’s position as a trusted first car for Indian families.
