The e Sky is Suzuki’s first all-electric kei car and represents a very interesting approach to creating an electric vehicle that is small, lightweight and has a range of 310 km.
Positioning and launch timing
e Sky is Suzuki’s first electric passenger kei car to hit the Japanese market, following from its concept, Vision e Sky. It is planned to be launched into the Japanese market in autumn 2026 (September-November). Specifications will be published in detail closer to the release time. Among Japanese electric kei cars, there is BYD Racco that debuted in June 2022.
Dimensions and compactness
Built on the kei-car rules of Japan, e Sky is very compact but has effective packaging. Dimensions are as follows:
length – 3,395 mm;
width – 1,475 mm;
height – 1,625 mm;
wheelbase – 2,460 mm;
kerb weight – 1,030 kg;
turning radius – 4.4 metres.
Being under 3.4 meters long and weighing little more than a ton, e Sky is very compact, and therefore ideal for moving around the cities.
Battery and range
e Sky uses a 26 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack. It is considered to be stable in terms of temperature and long-lasting.
According to the manufacturer, the driving range is about 310 km (about 193 miles) for the two-wheel drive version (in Japan, the concept had “more than 270 km” mentioned in relation to it). It is achieved through a combination of low weight, tuning for aerodynamics and efficient operation of the powertrain rather than using bigger batteries. Consumption is about 97 Wh/km, emphasizing the efficiency approach to building.
It supports DC fast charging with a maximum of 50 kW, enabling an 80% charge in approximately 25 minutes in optimal conditions. For everyday use, however, AC home charging will be mostly used by drivers because of the small 26 kWh battery pack that makes the energy cost for driving minimal.
Motor and performance
Although exact figures have not been disclosed yet, according to some information, e Sky uses a front-mounted electric motor with power about 47 kW (or about 63-64 bhp), which is in compliance with the power limit of kei-cars of Japan. With such motor, the driving in city conditions becomes confident, acceleration is adjusted to fit stop-go traffic and lane changing.
Initially launched with the front-wheel-drive layout, the e Sky has a short 4.4-metre turning radius and a light kerb weight for better performance in heavy traffic.
Thermal Management & Driving Aids
In order to conserve range in varying climatic conditions, the e Sky is equipped with a direct heat pump system alongside air heated electric heater. This ensures that the effect of cabin heating is minimal as far as battery range is concerned – an essential factor in cold regions.

City Driving Aids
In addition to city driving, Suzuki also offers an Easy Drive Pedal (i-Pedal like behavior) feature which allows more deceleration when the pedal is lifted. The function will help reduce constant switching between accelerator and brakes in urban environments.
V2L, Interior Tech & Practicality
One key feature of the e Sky is the V2L capability, i.e., the ability to output 1,500W from the traction battery through the 100V cabin outlet. The power source can charge external devices like laptops, portable cooking equipment, or camping accessories and even serve as a temporary back-up generator in case of power outages.
In the cabin of the e Sky, there is a 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen display, while digital instrument cluster ensures that the driver knows all important information about the car at all times. Connected navigation system will take into account the range available on the battery and traffic to plan an optimal route. With a tall roof, long wheelbase, and boxy silhouette, interior space is maximised despite very compact exterior measurements.
Design Highlights
Exterior design of the car is sleek and modern with rectangular shaped headlights with C-shaped LED signature lights that are joined by a thin black panel. Squared wheel arches, contrasting black roof and a flat tailgate with vertical LED tail lights finish off the design. For this car, Suzuki is offering an exclusive Immersion Blue body color along with an interior theme to signify the e Sky’s electric character.
India relevance & What to expect next?
While there has been no official confirmation about the launch of the e Sky in India yet, one must remember that the platform used by this car has connections to the Vision e Sky Concept which Suzuki has connected to its upcoming WagonR EV. Therefore, it is not hard to imagine that there might be a future Maruti Suzuki EV based on this architecture.
Some of the key hurdles that the vehicle may face in India could be related to localization, pricing, charging facilities, and battery or other configuration changes as per the requirements of Indians. As for now, the e Sky shows that Suzuki is following the principle of “More from Less” with its battery pack, low weight, and smart thermal management delivering 310 km of range.
