The Maserati GranTurismo has always been different from an ordinary sports car. It is not just built for speed, and it is not only focused on sharp cornering. The GranTurismo is a proper grand tourer a car made to cover long distances quickly, comfortably and with plenty of style.
For 2027, Maserati has updated the GranTurismo with more power, improved technology and a wider choice of engines. It is still expensive and not perfect, but it remains one of the most beautiful and emotional cars in its class.
A design that still turns heads
Maserati has not made dramatic changes to the GranTurismo’s overall shape, and that is a good thing. The long bonnet, low roof, wide body and flowing rear design continue to give the car a strong road presence.

The latest update brings small styling changes, but the main character remains untouched. The GranTurismo still looks elegant rather than aggressive. It does not try too hard to look like a racing car. Instead, it has the calm and confident appearance of a luxury coupe that knows it is special.
The iconic Maserati grille, slim lighting elements and triple side vents remain important parts of the design. The car also has a long wheelbase, which helps create a more comfortable cabin for long journeys.
A powerful V6 engine
The GranTurismo Modena is powered by Maserati’s 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged Nettuno V6 petrol engine. In this version, it produces 490 hp. The more powerful Trofeo variant raises the output to 590 hp, compared with 550 hp in the earlier version.
The Modena can accelerate from 0 to 100 kph in just 3.9 seconds, while the Trofeo completes the same run in 3.5 seconds. These figures are impressive, but the GranTurismo is not only about numbers.

What makes the experience special is the way the car builds speed. The engine feels strong across the rev range, and the automatic gearbox works quickly when the driver wants more performance. The V6 produces a deep and sporty sound, although it can feel slightly rough at low engine speeds.
The Trofeo is seriously fast
The Trofeo is the version for buyers who want a more aggressive driving experience. Its extra power is noticeable when accelerating on open roads, and the car feels more urgent every time the throttle is pressed.
It is still comfortable enough for long-distance travel, but the Trofeo feels closer to a supercar when driven hard. The acceleration is strong, the engine responds quickly and the all-wheel-drive system helps the car put its power down effectively.
However, the Modena may be the better choice for buyers who want the complete grand-touring experience. It offers plenty of performance without feeling too intense during relaxed driving.
There is also an electric version
Maserati also offers the GranTurismo Folgore, an all-electric version of the car. It uses a three-motor setup that produces 760 hp, making it the quickest and most powerful model in the range.

The Folgore delivers instant acceleration and feels extremely quick. It also provides a quieter and smoother driving experience than the petrol versions. Its driving range has improved by around 80 km to approximately 540 km under the WLTP testing cycle, thanks partly to a new front-axle disconnect function.
The electric model is impressive, but it has a different personality. The petrol GranTurismo offers engine sound, vibration and mechanical drama. The Folgore is faster and cleaner, but it may not deliver the same emotional connection for traditional sports-car fans.
A comfortable cabin
The GranTurismo’s interior is designed around the idea of long-distance travel. The seating position is low but not uncomfortable, and the front seats offer good support. The cabin feels premium, with quality materials, modern screens and a clean dashboard design.
One advantage of the GranTurismo is that the petrol and electric versions offer a similar driving position. Buyers do not have to sacrifice the sports-car feel simply because they choose a different powertrain
.
The rear seats are useful for short journeys and can carry passengers better than those in many other performance coupes. However, tall adults may not find the rear area spacious enough for long trips.
Ride comfort and handling
A grand tourer should be comfortable, and the GranTurismo mostly succeeds. It feels stable on highways and remains composed at high speeds. The suspension does a good job of controlling the car, but the ride can feel firm on rough roads.
This is one area where the GranTurismo is not as relaxed as some luxury sedans. It is still a performance car underneath, and passengers may notice sharper bumps on broken surfaces.
The steering is precise, while the all-wheel-drive system gives the car strong grip. On winding roads, the GranTurismo feels much smaller and more agile than its size suggests.
Expected India price
The updated Maserati GranTurismo is expected to arrive in India in the coming months, along with the open-top GranCabrio. The range is expected to start at around Rs 2.7 crore ex-showroom, while the Trofeo could cost close to Rs 3 crore. The electric Folgore is also expected to be offered in India.
At this price, the GranTurismo will appeal to a small group of luxury-car buyers. It will compete with high-performance models from Porsche, Mercedes-AMG and Bentley, but its main advantage is its unique Italian character.
The Maserati GranTurismo is not the most practical luxury car, nor is it the most comfortable over every type of road. Its low-speed engine sound can be rough, and the ride may feel firm for a grand tourer.
But the car succeeds where many rivals struggle. It combines beauty, speed, comfort and emotion in one package. The Modena is the best all-rounder, the Trofeo is the performance choice and the Folgore brings electric power to the GranTurismo name.
With its stunning design, strong V6 engines and genuine long-distance ability, the 2027 Maserati GranTurismo remains a GT in the truest sense of the word. It is fast when you want it to be, comfortable when the journey is long and special every time you see it.
