Hero MotoCorp have given fans a glimpse of a potential luxury retro offering from the largest two wheeler manufacturer in India with the Classic Concept at EICMA 2026.

With classic styling details such as vintage inspired bodywork, handcrafted features and exposed bits, it certainly looks like a classic motorcycle. Although Hero have not confirmed if a production model will be made, the bike has certainly started fans speculating if it will eventually rival the popular Royal Enfield Classic 350.

New Design Language

Alongside the Scrambler Concept, the Classic Concept was unveiled at EICMA 2026. Unlike the rugged adventure bike of the Xpulse 450, this bike takes on a more gentle and elegant style. Inspired by India’s art, craft and classic motorcycle design, it is one of the most distinctive concepts we have seen from Hero recently.

The bike features a range of design features to give it a classic look, including shiny metal, engraved gold plates, leather, chrome and wire-spoke wheels.

Front End

The front end features a large round headlight with a gold finish nacelle. An H shape LED lighting signature can be seen inside the headlight which adds a subtle touch of branding. The front fork guards are finished in shiny metal, whilst the fork legs are painted in blue.

Chrome mudguards are present with wire-spoke wheels. Brown handles are included on the handlebar and the brake fluid reservoir is finished in gold. Although these features might seem small, they add a premium handcrafted feel.

Fuel Tank & Seat

One of the standout features of the Classic Concept is the fuel tank. Most of the tank features a shiny metal finish with deep blue sections at the top and bottom. Gold plates can be seen with engraved designs featuring floral patterns.

A brown leather strip can be seen down the middle of the tank leading to the seat. A long leather seat features diamond patterning on the top section. The seat tapers towards the back of the bike and sits directly above the rear wheel. This helps to emphasise the low and long design of the bike.

Bits & Pieces

Much of the Classic Concept has been designed to expose the inner workings of the bike. The engine features shiny metal covers and gold cooling fins. Blue sections have been used to link together the front, middle and rear sections. The bike looks more like a custom built machine.

A long chrome exhaust pipe runs along the right-hand side of the bike. The rear features a small round light in the middle of the blue rear mudguard. Two suspension units can be seen on the rear of the bike. These are finished with blue, silver and gold. A wire-spoke rear wheel with a slim tyre can be seen to match the front.

Instrument Cluster

The cluster has been kept simple. A small round cluster has been used to display a blue radial graphic in the centre. The handlebars have been finished in metallic blue and feature exposed shiny clamps. This keeps the front clean with the fuel tank, headlight and forks taking centre stage.

This design fits in with the overall theme of the bike. Hero have kept things simple with no large screens or switches. However, if the bike goes into production, Hero may need to add some modern features to help keep up with buyer expectations.

Will It Compete With The RE Classic 350?

The main question with this concept is whether it will be a preview for a production model that will compete with the Royal Enfield Classic 350. The Classic 350 dominates the mid-capacity retro market in India and has a loyal following.

Hero have not confirmed any details about a production model, engine, release date or price. However, they could bring out a neo-retro offering in the future. If they do, they will need to ensure there is more to the bike than just the looks. They will need to make sure the bike performs well, is refined, has good after-sales and has a competitive price.

Engine

Hero have not confirmed any details about the engine of the Classic Concept. As it is likely to compete with the Classic 350, it could feature a single cylinder engine from 300cc to 450cc. Hero already have some up-to-date engine technology and their Xpulse 450 platform shows they are able to create some capable mid-capacity machines.

The production model will likely need to have good low end torque, refinement and a lightweight design. Retro buyers usually like a laid back feel so having a refined single cylinder with a 5 or 6-speed gear box will suit.

What Does It Mean For Hero?

This concept shows Hero want to move away from commuter bikes and venture into higher end markets. They have already released the Scrambler Concept so are looking into different lifestyle segments. This shows they have an overall strategy in place to target younger buyers.

If Hero do release a retro machine, it will give Royal Enfield some new competition. This could mean more choice, features and competitive pricing in the 350cc retro segment.

Expectations

As this is a design study, we shouldn’t expect it to go into production. There are no technical details available and the intricate shiny metal, gold and leather details are unlikely to be used on a mass-market bike.

However, it is important as it gives us an insight into how Hero might design the bike. If they decide to make it a production model, we can expect it to be more practical with standard materials, modern lighting, digital/semi digital instrumentation and a competitive price. Overall, it is a stunning concept to give us an idea of how a Hero rival to the Royal Enfield Classic 350 might look.
