Here comes the upgraded version of the Jetour T2, the box-shaped and rugged SUV that has made its way overseas. The good news is that the facelifted Jetour T2 will arrive in India as one of the first offerings of JSW Motors in the SUV segment.

Facelifted Features

The main change is in the front design. Specifically, the facelifted Jetour T2 receives round headlights in place of square ones and thereby gets closer to budgetary Land Rover Defender’s style. Also, the front bumper that protruded and was finished in unfinished black plastic is now integrated into the body and painted in body color.

The off-roader-style fake lights and the tow hook are gone, while the restyled design gives the SUV an air of premiumness. At the back, the spare wheel cover gets a restyled pattern, and the tailgate design is improved.

Jetour T2 facelift looks tougher and more premium, which is quite reasonable since the SUV is meant to compete with the Fortuner and Pajero Sport.

Powertrain: i-DM Plug-In Hybrid Beast

The India-bound Jetour T2 will receive the i-DM (Intelligent Dual Mode) plug-in hybrid system, which includes:

1.5-liter turbocharged petrol engine (156 PS, 220 Nm);

Two electric motors (combined 224 PS, 390 Nm);

3-speed dedicated hybrid transmission (DHT);

26.7 kWh LFP battery pack;

Therefore, the total system output of the SUV is about 375 PS and 610 Nm. This is noticeably higher than the Toyota Fortuner’s 204 PS and 500 Nm.

The Jetour T2 i-DM is claimed to offer a combined range of over 1,000 km, including about 139 km on the electric energy only. Overseas, it costs about ₹6.88 lakh (on-road Jakarta) – in India, the price will be noticeably higher after the localization and taxes.

India Launch: Ahead of Diwali 2026
JSW Motors plans to launch its first SUV- the Jetour T2, ahead of Diwali 2026. According to the information, the vehicle will be assembled locally to keep the costs low.

While in other markets, both pure ICE and plug-in hybrid variants of the Jetour T2 are sold, in India, the company is focused on the plug-in hybrid Jetour T2 i-DM.

It looks sensible because the push for electric vehicles in India coupled with the performance of the SUV makes the latter a serious competitor for the Fortuner, MG Gloster, and Isuzu MU-X.

Features and Technology
Features include:

Large touchscreen infotainment system

Digital instrument cluster

Panoramic sunroof

360-degree camera

ADAS features

Car connectivity technology

Multiple driving modes including off-roading modes

Additionally, some updates have been made to the car’s interior. For instance, new quilting on the door cards is provided to complement the new leather quilts for the seats that also come with a massage feature. Additionally, the centre armrest box has been redesigned to open sideways in the direction of the driver. Also, the steering wheel gets some refreshes.

Price Expectation

On an overseas market, the T2 i-DM goes from around ₹25-30 lakh (based on location). In India, the price is expected to be competitive, possibly falling in the ₹25-35 lakh bracket (ex-showroom).

This means it would sit in the Fortuner’s bracket but with the added benefit of plug-in hybrid technology and higher power output.

Why This Is Important

The Jetour T2 represents the latest in SUV designs for the Indian market. Not only is it a Chinese SUV but a capable one offering off-roading, powerful hybrid system and high-end technology and features.

For the customers dissatisfied by the high prices and obsolete technology in the Fortuner, the T2 can turn out to be a refreshing change offering much more power, greater efficiency and modern tech at lower prices.

The Jetour T2 facelift comes as a huge improvement over the original model with new round headlights, updated design, and more premium interior making it seem like a higher-end car than it actually is.

For the Indian market, the T2 i-DM plug-in hybrid SUV would be just what the customers are looking for with its power, efficiency, and features.

As long as JSW Motors nails the pricing, the T2 would definitely pose a stiff competition for the Fortuner with the launch expected before Diwali 2026.
