The new entry-level cruiser, developed with Hero MotoCorp, will be seen at EICMA 2026.
Expected to hit the Indian market very soon making it one of the most affordable ways to get a hold of a Harley-Davidson.
Small Yet Iconic
The new Harley-Davidson Sprint 440 features a 440cc single-cylinder engine. Despite being a small bike, it still has those classic Harley-Davidson styling cues, with the round headlight, muscular fuel tank, chopped-off rear fender and fastback saddle.
It features 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheels, giving it an iconic cruiser look. Weighing just 187kg, with a 671mm seat height, it’s much more friendly compared to the bigger Harleys.
The bike will be available in three different colours; Dark Billiard Gray, Vivid Black and Teal Thunder. All variations feature an orange fuel tank graphic and 10-spoke cast alloy wheels.
Engine and Performance
The bike is powered by a 440cc air and oil cooled single-cylinder engine producing 27hp at 6000rpm and 38Nm of torque at 4000rpm. This means it has lots of low and mid-range torque.
The engine features a 79.6mm bore and 88.4mm stroke. It also has a 9.65:1 compression ratio. It features one intake and exhaust valves, controlled by a single overhead camshaft. The engine also features fuel injection.
To reduce vibration, it features a gear driven counter balancer. The six-speed gearbox also has overdrive gears on 5th and 6th. The bike also features an assist slipper clutch.
The bike features excellent fuel economy of up to 34kmpl. With a 9-litre fuel tank, you could expect to do over 300km on a full tank. This makes it ideal for city and weekend use.

Suspension, Wheels and Braking
The bike features an upside-down front fork, with 130mm of travel. At the rear there are dual piggyback shocks with 76mm of wheel travel. The shocks also have seven-way pre-load adjustability, so can be adjusted to suit solo or pillion riding.
The bike features a 320mm front disc with a two piston caliper and 240mm rear disc with a single piston caliper. It also comes with dual channel ABS as standard.
The 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheels give it an iconic cruiser look. It should also handle well on Indian roads. However, the rear suspension travel isn’t massive meaning it’s geared towards city and motorway use.
Features and Tech
Despite keeping the cockpit traditional, it features some modern features. The bike features a 3.5-inch colour TFT display, located above the handlebars. The screen shows speed, engine revs, odometer, trip data and warning indicators.
It also features LED lights throughout and a USB-C charging port, located above the headlight.
The round dash, analog style and digital screen give the bike a perfect balance between classic and modern. It looks great from afar but has all the practical tech you’d expect.
Developed With Hero MotoCorp
The Sprint 440 has been co-designed and engineered by Harley-Davidson and Hero MotoCorp. This is a big deal as it allows Harley-Davidson to enter the smaller displacement market. It also allows it to be developed and manufactured more easily.
It will be released in the United States in Spring 2027. It will be assembled at Harley-Davidson’s Vehicle Operations in York, Pennsylvania. However, it should arrive in India sooner with an expected release date soon.
For Hero MotoCorp, it helps them increase their premium offering. For Harley-Davidson, it allows them to attract younger and new premium riders who may have found the bigger Harley’s too expensive or intimidating.

Accessories
Harley-Davidson have announced a huge range of accessories to go along with the bike. You can choose between different seats, with the Tallboy seat raising you around 51mm and pushing your seat back 64mm. Or the Reach seat, which pushes you forward around 25mm.
Textile saddlebags, pillion backrest, different pegs, mirror bars, handlebars, flat Moto handlebars, engine guards and a removable windscreen are also available. This means you can customise it for touring, commuting or a more custom cruiser look.
What It Means For India
The Sprint 440 could prove to be an important product for Harley-Davidson in India. With its 440cc engine, low seat height and easy weight it could prove to be a great alternative to mid-weight cruisers and roadsters from brands like Royal Enfield, Triumph and Bajaj-Triumph.
Although it only has 27hp, putting it into the entry premium category, it has a massive 38Nm of torque, 6-speed gearbox and cruiser ergonomics meaning it should be fun to ride at real speeds in India.
If the price of this bike is competitive then it could really help Harley-Davidson grow their customer base in India. It offers the emotional appeal of a Harley-Davidson but with a smaller, lighter and cheaper option.
The Harley-Davidson Sprint 440 is an important bike for the American brand. It offers the classic Harley-Davidson cruiser style but in a smaller format. It also has some key features such as a low seat height, torque focused engine and lots of customisation.
With it arriving in India soon, it could be one of the most important new premium bikes of 2026/27. If you’ve always wanted to ride a Harley-Davidson but found the bigger models too much then this could be the perfect way to get started.
