BGauss has launched its new product Oowah, an electric scooter designed especially for young India and first-time EV buyers. According to the company, Oowah is India’s first EV-Pop scooter series- an innovative combination of bold design and everyday practicality for urban commuting.

Designed For How Young India Commutes Today

The Oowah electric scooter is positioned not only as a commuter vehicle but rather as the product aimed at Generation Z buyers who would want an expressive, contemporary and fun-to-own two-wheeler.

The scooter is offered in four different colour options- Emerald Shadow, Jamun Punch, Zesty Red, and Tangy Toma. The design of the vehicle reflects the target audience’s needs for individuality as all colours are bright and eye-catching and not boring, as usual in electric vehicles.

Range And Battery: Designed For Real-World Use

Under the hood of the Oowah electric scooter, there is a 3.0 kWh CAN-enabled removable Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery that provides an ARAI-certified range of 145 km, which is quite sufficient for urban commuters.

The removable battery is a key feature. It means riders without dedicated home charging access- think apartment dwellers or those without parking- can simply take the battery indoors and charge it conveniently. This flexibility addresses one of the biggest pain points for urban EV buyers.

Features That Simplify Daily Riding

BGauss has loaded the Oowah with features that make everyday ownership easier:

Reverse Assist: Makes parking and maneuvering in tight spaces effortless

Distance-to-Empty Indicator: Helps riders plan journeys with confidence by showing remaining range

Side Stand Sensor: Enhances safety by preventing accidental take-offs

USB Charging: Keeps devices powered on the move

Full LED Lighting: Improves visibility and safety

Generous Under-Seat Storage: Provides ample space for daily essentials like helmets, bags, or groceries

Together, these features aim to make electric mobility more intuitive and practical for everyday commuting.

Pricing and Variants

The Oowah range starts at ₹94,990 (ex-showroom) for the base variant, which comes with a 2.3 kWh battery and 105 km range. The top-spec Max Plus variant, with the 3.0 kWh battery and 145 km range, is priced at ₹1,22,990 (ex-showroom).

This pricing puts the Oowah in a competitive spot – above basic commuter EVs but below premium performance scooters. It’s targeting buyers who want a balance of design, range, and features without breaking the bank.

Why BGauss Is Doing This

According to Hemant Kabra, Founder of BGauss, the Indian two-wheeler buyer is changing faster than most product portfolios have kept pace with. Gen Z wants products that are expressive and contemporary, not just functional.

“With Oowah, we are introducing a new category that blends bold design with trusted electric mobility,” Kabra said. The scooter is meant to reflect individuality while delivering the reliability and practicality that riders expect from BGauss.

Market Context: EV Two-Wheelers Going Mainstream

The Oowah launch comes at a time when India’s electric two-wheeler market is entering a new phase of growth. Electric two-wheeler sales in India have already crossed 1.11 million units in the first seven months of 2026, while monthly market penetration surged past 11% for the first time.

This reflects the category’s shift from early adopters to mainstream consumers. Most electric scooters in India today are positioned either as premium performance products or as value-first commuter vehicles. BGauss believes a third category is emerging- scooters that treat design and self-expression as core product decisions, while staying grounded in range, reliability, and price.

The BGauss Oowah is the company’s first dedicated push into the youth and first-time buyer segment. It extends BGauss’s product portfolio beyond its existing commuter and performance-oriented models, marking a deliberate expansion aligned with its broader strategy.

As India’s EV two-wheeler market matures beyond early adopters into mainstream and high-volume demand, BGauss is building distinct products for distinct rider behaviours. The Oowah is the first step in that direction- a scooter that treats design as seriously as range, and self-expression as importantly as price.
