Only 873 Units Worldwide & India’s Allocation Is Already Sold Out!

Ducati has launched the exclusive Formula 73 in India priced at Rs. 20 lakh ex-showroom. The motorcycle pays homage to the 1973 Ducati 750 Super Sport Desmo and features a blend of retro-inspired design and modern electronics.

Limited to just 873 numbered units worldwide, the Formula 73’s Indian allocation has already sold out. Bookings are now closed. Therefore, the Formula 73 belongs to the most exclusive Ducati motorcycles ever offered in India.

A Tribute to the 1973 750 Super Sport Desmo. The Formula 73 is inspired by the 750 Super Sport Desmo. The 750 Super Sport Desmo was the first Ducati road motorcycle to feature a desmodromic valve timing system. The original model followed the Ducati’s victory at the 1972 200 Miglia di Imola where Paul Smart and Bruno Spaggiari raced against the 750 Imola Desmo.

The Formula 73 features a number of design elements from the original model:

Silver and aqua-green paint scheme

Vertical gold stripe on the fuel tank (referencing the historic race bike’s fuel level check strip)

Clip-on handlebars and bar-end mirrors

Short, tapered fairing and tail

Aqua-green steel trellis frame

The gold stripe on the fuel tank pays homage to the unpainted strip that was used on the historic race bike to check fuel levels.

The Formula 73 features a bevy of premium materials:

Billet aluminium components (brake and clutch levers, footpegs)

Rizoma fuel cap

Exclusive touches (name and serial number on the steering plate, certificate of authenticity, historical photographs and design sketches in a special box)

Each unit of the Formula 73 carries its name and serial number on the steering plate, making it unique. The certificate of authenticity and historical documentation make the Formula 73 a valuable collector’s piece.

Why You Can’t Buy It. The Formula 73’s Indian allocation has already been sold out. All the units were claimed before the official launch announcement. This is understandable as the Formula 73 is a unique motorcycle with a limited production run of 873 units.

Collectors and Ducati enthusiasts who managed to buy a Formula 73 now own a piece of the brand’s history. The certificate of authenticity and serial number make the Formula 73 a genuine collector’s piece.

Competition

The Formula 73 doesn’t have any direct rivals. It belongs to the category of limited-edition retro cafe racers. The Formula 73’s closest competitors are:

Ducati Scrambler 1100 (Rs. 15-17 lakh)

Triumph Thruxton RS (Rs. 13-14 lakh)

BMW R nineT (Rs. 18-20 lakh)

The main advantage of the Formula 73 lies in its limited production run. It was a one-time special limited-edition motorcycle that paid homage to the brand’s history. The Formula 73 is also a collector’s piece with a unique certificate of authenticity.

Should You Have Bought It? The Ducati Formula 73 was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for Ducati fans and collectors. It was worth buying for the following reasons:

If you are a Ducati collector or enthusiast.

If you value limited-edition motorcycles.

If you appreciate the 1973 750 Super Sport Desmo’s heritage.

If you wanted a piece of Ducati’s centenary year.

It wasn’t worth buying if:

If you wanted a practical daily commuter.

If you needed a bike for long-distance touring.

If you preferred modern, fully-faired sportbikes.

If you wanted a lower price point.

The Ducati Formula 73 is a fitting tribute to the brand’s centenary year. With only 873 units produced worldwide and a direct connection to the 1973 750 Super Sport Desmo, the Formula 73 is a true collector’s piece. At Rs. 20 lakh, the motorcycle was priced as a premium retro cafe racer. India’s allocation sold out before the official launch, proving its popularity among Ducati enthusiasts. For those who missed out on it, the Formula 73 will be a rare sight on Indian roads.
