Hyundai Motor India is preparing one of its biggest product expansions in the country. The company plans to introduce 26 new models by 2030, including new SUVs, electric vehicles, hybrid cars, updated versions of existing models and vehicles for new segments. The plan comes at a time when Hyundai is trying to increase sales, strengthen its SUV line-up and compete more strongly with Maruti Suzuki, Tata Motors and Mahindra.

The 26-model figure will include completely new vehicles, new-generation models, facelifts, new variants and powertrain updates. According to reports, around seven or eight models will be all-new products, while the remaining launches will include major updates to Hyundai’s existing cars.

More SUVs on the way

SUVs are now the biggest part of the Indian car market, and Hyundai plans to make the most of this trend. The company already sells popular models such as the Venue, Creta, Alcazar and Tucson, but it is expected to add more SUVs in different sizes and price ranges.

Hyundai’s product plan is likely to include a new compact SUV, a larger flagship SUV and models designed for buyers who want more space or stronger road presence. The company may also enter new SUV categories, including family-focused and adventure-oriented segments.

This strategy is important because SUV demand continues to grow in India. Many customers who once bought hatchbacks or sedans are now moving towards SUVs because of their higher seating position, larger cabins and stronger styling.

New-generation Creta will be important

The next-generation Hyundai Creta is expected to arrive around February 2028. It is likely to receive a new design, a more modern interior and improved technology.

The new Creta could become one of Hyundai’s most flexible models because it may be offered with petrol, diesel, hybrid and electric powertrain options. This would allow the company to serve buyers with different needs instead of depending on just one type of engine.

The current Creta is already one of Hyundai’s strongest sellers, so the next-generation model will have an important role in the company’s future. It will need to offer better features, improved safety and competitive pricing to remain ahead of rivals such as the Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder and Honda Elevate.

Hyundai enters the hybrid market

One of the biggest changes in Hyundai’s India strategy will be the introduction of hybrid vehicles. The company has not previously sold a strong-hybrid model in India, but it now plans to enter this fast-growing segment.

The Hyundai Palisade Hybrid is expected to arrive around 2028 and could become the company’s new flagship SUV in India. It will sit above the Creta and Alcazar and may be priced above Rs 30 lakh.

Hyundai is also expected to introduce more hybrid models over the next few years. Reports suggest that the company could launch up to eight hybrid models by 2030, including new products and hybrid versions of existing vehicles.

Hybrid cars are becoming popular because they offer better fuel efficiency without the charging requirements of a fully electric vehicle. This makes them suitable for Indian buyers who want cleaner technology but are still concerned about charging infrastructure and long-distance travel.

More electric cars for India

Hyundai is also preparing a bigger electric vehicle line-up. The company is expected to launch six EVs by 2030, including a locally developed electric SUV designed specifically for the Indian market.

The first India-focused compact electric SUV could arrive around 2027. It is expected to be offered with different battery options, allowing Hyundai to target buyers across a wider price range.

This model could compete with electric SUVs from Tata Motors, Mahindra and Maruti Suzuki. Local development and production may also help Hyundai keep the price under control and make the vehicle more suitable for Indian road and driving conditions.

Petrol and diesel cars will continue

Even though Hyundai is investing heavily in hybrids and EVs, petrol and diesel vehicles will not disappear from its line-up soon. The company’s plan includes around 20 vehicles with internal combustion engines, covering petrol, diesel, facelifts and new-generation models.

Hyundai’s approach will therefore include different types of powertrains instead of focusing only on electric vehicles. Buyers will be able to choose between petrol, diesel, hybrid and EV models depending on their budget and usage.

Why Hyundai is making this move

Hyundai has admitted that slower product launches and fewer updates affected its sales and market position. The new 26-model plan is designed to bring more excitement into showrooms and give customers more choices.

Hyundai’s plan to launch 26 new cars by 2030 could completely change its product line-up in India. The company is preparing new SUVs, electric vehicles, hybrid models and updated versions of popular cars such as the Creta.

For Indian buyers, this means more choices in nearly every segment. The next few years could bring Hyundai cars with better technology, improved safety, new powertrains and stronger designs. If Hyundai follows this plan successfully, it could make a strong comeback in India’s fast-changing car market.
