BMW 7 Series price in India

The new BMW 7 Series range comprises three variants: the BMW 740 M Sport, BMW i7 eDrive50 xDrive M Sport and the high-performance BMW i7 M70 xDrive, with prices starting at ₹1.95 crore, ex-showroom. Bookings for the all-new BMW 7 Series have opened across BMW India dealerships, with deliveries commencing from October 2026. BMW India will also locally manufacture the new BMW i7 range at BMW Group Plant Chennai. India will be the second country in the world after Germany to witness the local production of the electric 7 Series. Furthermore, the high-performance BMW i7 M70 xDrive will be available as a fully built-up unit in India.

Locally produced i7 opens new chapter for BMW in India

The new i7’s local production is a significant step towards achieving the group’s strategic objective of establishing India as a key market for its premium electric vehicles. In addition, it will enable BMW India to offer the standard i7 at a significantly lower price point than a fully imported electric luxury sedan.

New design language

The new BMW 7 Series features a new design language that is set to define BMW’s luxury-class vehicles for years to come. The new design combines a towering front end with surfaces that flow into flush door handles and a monolithic look, generating greater presence on the road and delivering the elegance expected from a BMW luxury sedan.

The front end is dominated by the illuminated BMW Iconic Glow Kidney Grilles and new BMW Individual crystal headlights that utilise diamond cuts made from Swarovski glass, creating unique day and night illumination. The standard equipment includes adaptive LED headlights with cornering light, matrix high beam, and BMW Selective Beam non-dazzling high-beam assistant.

These headlights provide an incredible range of up to 600 metres, while the larger matt BMW badge mounted between the newly formed character lines of the bonnet gives the front end a contemporary feel.

The side profile features a new character line that extends from the front apron into the doorsills and into the rear section, creating a longer and more elegant look while also giving the sedan an almost boat-tail appearance when viewed from the three-quarter rear perspective. The integrated door handles, aluminium satin-finish exterior trim and surfaces also contribute to the overall luxury appeal of the new 7 Series.

The rear gets newly designed slim tail-lights that stretch into the rear bodywork. The M Sport variants also get a high-gloss black diffuser and sportier bumpers, along with other model-specific design features.

Sporty M70 design

The new BMW i7 M70 xDrive performance sedan gets several M-specific design features. The front apron gets larger air curtains and a wider central air inlet, while the front bumper gets a small spoiler lip that gives the M70 a lower and sportier look. The illuminated kidney grilles get a darker treatment, while the BMW Individual crystal headlights get smoked-black crystals.

The Hofmeister kink gets M badges while the light surrounds also get M70-specific graphics. The M70 variants also get black high-gloss exterior mirrors with BMW M signature stripes, black side skirts, and a unique rear diffuser that stretches to a considerable length. A subtle black rear spoiler and new 21-inch M aerodynamic wheels complete the looks of the M70.

Technology-centric cockpit

The new BMW 7 Series blends luxurious materials with the latest BMW display and operating concepts to create a cockpit that is both sophisticated and innovative. At the heart of the new 7 Series’ cockpit is the BMW Panoramic iDrive, which employs the BMW Operating System X and introduces groundbreaking ways to present information and operate the vehicle.

The new BMW 7 Series features BMW Panoramic Vision, which casts images across the lower edge of the windsheild, spanning from one A-pillar to the other. It works in conjunction with the new 3D Head-up Display and 17.9-inch central screen that offers a 3,340 x 1,440 pixel resolution.

The new 7 Series also gets the first-ever standard BMW Passenger Screen. The 14.6-inch screen enables the front-seat passenger to enjoy the in-car infotainment content without having to log in with a BMW ID or personal account. The screen automatically darkens when the vehicle’s interior camera detects that the driver is looking at it.

The new 7 Series also features a multifunction steering wheel, illuminated controls, wireless smartphone charging, and the latest connected-car technologies. Customers can also choose from a range of premium materials including leather, Alcantara, wood, glass, and metal finishes. The i7 M70 also gets carbon-fibre interior trim with silver threads and Piano Black detailing.

Luxury rear-seat galore

The new BMW 7 Series continues to be one of the most sophisticated rear-seat luxury sedans in its class. Featuring Executive Lounge seats, the new 7 Series’ rear-seat cushion reclines to a 43-degree angle, while the seat height, backrest angle, and upper backrest sections are all individually variable to ensure maximum comfort for the passengers.

The new 7 Series also features the 31.3-inch 8K BMW Theatre Screen that runs along the roof, creating a theatrical in-car entertainment experience. It comes paired with the Bowers & Wilkins Diamond Surround Sound system with Dolby Atmos.

The Sky Lounge panoramic glass sunroof can be optionally equipped with over 40 LED lights to form an illuminated pattern that follows the stitching on the seats. The new 7 Series also features updated automatic doors with radar sensors for improved functionality and convenience. The doors also feature a soft-close function for enhanced ease of use.

Petrol and electric drivetrains

The new BMW 740 M Sport is powered by a 3.0-litre six-cylinder TwinPower Turbo petrol engine that delivers 400 hp and 540 Nm of torque. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 5.4 seconds and has a top speed of 250 kmph.

The BMW i7 eDrive50 xDrive has a combined power output of 455 hp and 660 Nm of torque. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 5.5 seconds and has a top speed of 210 kmph.

With a battery capacity of 112.5kWh, the eDrive50 xDrive has a claimed WLTP range of up to 728 km – an increase of 125 km over the previous iteration – making it one of the cars with the longest range in its class.

The range-extending BMW i7 M70 xDrive, on the other hand, is the most powerful variant in the 7 Series range. It uses two electric motors to produce a combined power output of 680 hp. With 1,015 Nm of torque in sport mode and an incredible 1,100 Nm of torque when using the Launch Control or Sport Boost functions, the M70 xDrive can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in just 3.8 seconds and has a top speed of 250 kmph. The improved battery technology on the M70 xDrive also allows for a claimed WLTP range of up to 686 km.

Charging and safety

Both the BMW i7 and i7 M70 support DC fast charging at up to 250 kW. BMW notes that it will be possible to charge from 10 to 80 percent in just 28 minutes, while a 10-minute charging session will provide the car with enough range to cover a distance of 235 km. When using a 22kW AC charger, the battery can be charged to full in approximately six hours. BMW India will also supply a complimentary BMW Wallbox charger with installation for both electric variants. When connected to an appropriate power supply, the Wallbox can provide up to 22 kW of charging power.

The new 7 Series also features a comprehensive suite of advanced driving-assist systems. The new 7 Series comes with cruise control, Attentiveness Assistant, Parking Assistant Professional, smartphone-controlled parking, and Reversing Assistant Professional as standard equipment.

The BMW i7 also comes with Driving Assistant Plus, which includes active cruise control with Stop & Go, Steering and Lane Control Assistant, and blind-spot monitoring, helping to reduce the driver’s workload while also enhancing comfort and safety.

New flagship for BMW India

With its petrol and electric powertrain options, the new BMW 7 Series expands BMW India’s flagship sedan offerings to include both traditional six-cylinder performance and cutting-edge electric technology. The BMW 740 M Sport offers the familiar six-cylinder experience, while the all-electric BMW i7 eDrive50 xDrive covers longer distances. The high-performance BMW i7 M70 xDrive delivers uncompromising performance and luxury at the rear-seat.

The new 7 Series also brings cutting-edge design, software and display technologies to India. With its local production, range of up to 728 km and deliveries set to commence in October 2026, the new 7 Series represents a significant step forward for BMW India in the luxury sedan and electric vehicle segments.
