Hyundai Motor India has crossed an important milestone in the connected car space. The company now has more than 8 lakh connected cars on Indian roads. It is also preparing to reach 10 lakh connected car sales by 2027.
Connected features have become much more common in new cars over the last few years. When Hyundai introduced its Bluelink technology in 2019, these features were still new for most Indian buyers. The Venue was the first Hyundai model in India to get factory-fitted connected car technology.
Since then, the company has slowly added Bluelink to more models, including the Creta, i20 and other popular vehicles. Hyundai says that connected car adoption across its portfolio has increased five times since 2019. It has gone up from just 4% in 2019 to 20% in 2026.
Hyundai is not stopping at the 10 lakh target. The company wants to cross 20 lakh connected car sales by 2030. This shows that it expects connected technology to become a normal feature in Indian cars, rather than something available only in expensive models.
What can Bluelink do?
Hyundai Bluelink offers more than 70 features. These features are spread across safety, security, convenience and vehicle monitoring.
Through the Bluelink app, owners can check where their car is parked, see the vehicle’s health and view their previous trips. They can also send remote commands to the car and check important information without being physically near the vehicle.
Some of the other features include Digital Key, Digital Passport, Remote Immobilizer, Home-to-Car Connectivity and Hyundai Pay for in-car payments. The system also supports more than 450 voice commands in five languages.
These features may sound small individually, but they can make everyday life easier. For example, a driver can use the app to locate a car in a crowded parking area. The owner can also check whether the doors are locked or monitor the car when it is being used by another family member.
Bluelink helps in emergencies
Hyundai says the technology has also helped customers during difficult situations. Its SOS and roadside assistance services have supported more than 5 lakh motorists so far.
The company has also assisted in around 15,000 crash notification cases. When a serious accident takes place, connected systems can help alert emergency support teams and reduce the time taken to provide assistance.
Bluelink has also been useful in cases involving vehicle theft or recovery. Hyundai says the technology has supported law enforcement agencies in tracing vehicles.
Apart from emergency support, features such as Driving Score are designed to help people understand their driving habits. The system can give feedback on harsh braking, sudden acceleration and other driving patterns. This may encourage owners to drive more carefully.

Hyundai’s software plans
Hyundai is also moving towards software-based vehicles. In simple terms, this means that a car can receive new features and improvements through software updates, much like a smartphone.
The company introduced OTA map updates with the i20 in 2020. It later brought updated AVNT technology in 2022. In 2025, Hyundai introduced its Connected Car Navigation Cockpit, also known as ccNC, with support for controller OTA updates.
The next major step will come with Hyundai’s upcoming mass-market electric SUV. The company has confirmed that the model will get advanced connected car technology as standard across all variants.
This could make connected features available to a much larger number of buyers. Hyundai is clearly trying to combine electric mobility with smart software, giving customers more control over charging, vehicle health, navigation and daily use.
The growth of connected cars shows that Indian buyers are now looking for more than just a powerful engine or attractive design. They also want their cars to be safer, smarter and easier to manage. With over 8 lakh connected cars already sold, Hyundai has built a strong base. Its next challenge will be reaching 10 lakh by 2027 and making sure the technology remains genuinely useful for everyday owners.
