Toyota launches new hilux in india at 31.99 lakh

Toyota Launches All-New Hilux in India, marking a major update to its iconic pickup truck. The ninth-generation Hilux arrives with a more aggressive design, a powerful 2.8-litre diesel engine, a stronger feature list and improved comfort, while staying true to the rugged capability that has defined the nameplate globally.

The new Hilux is priced from Rs 31.99 lakh ex-showroom for the GX 4×2 AT, while the GX 4×4 AT is priced at Rs 33.69 lakh and the VX 4×4 AT at Rs 36.69 lakh. Bookings open from 28 July 2026, with deliveries starting from the second week of August.

What’s new in Toyota Hilux

Toyota has given the Hilux a fresh identity under its “Cyber Sumo” design theme, which gives the pickup a stronger front-end presence. The new grille, sculpted hood, muscular proportions, LED lighting and updated bumper design make the truck look more premium and more imposing on the road.

The overall approach is clear: keep the Hilux rugged, but make it more appealing to buyers who want a mix of utility and lifestyle presence. Toyota says the design is meant to reflect stability, strength and endurance, which are central to the Hilux brand image.

Powertrain and performance

The all-new Hilux continues with Toyota’s proven 2.8-litre BS6 Phase 2 diesel engine, producing 150 kW or 204 PS and 500 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission, while the truck also gets an 80-litre fuel tank for long-distance usability.

This powertrain setup makes the Hilux one of the more capable diesel pickup trucks in the market. Toyota has positioned it as a vehicle that can handle heavy-duty work, long highway journeys and rough terrain without losing refinement.

Off-road ability

As expected, the Hilux remains a serious off-road machine. The pickup comes with a 4WD system, H4 and L4 ranges, Electronic Differential Lock and Downhill Assist Control (DAC). These features give it the confidence to tackle challenging surfaces, steep descents and uneven terrain.

Toyota has also tuned the suspension for durability and ride quality, with a double wishbone setup at the front and leaf springs at the rear. Combined with strong approach and departure angles, the Hilux continues to be built for adventurous and demanding usage.

Cabin and comfort

Inside, Toyota has tried to make the Hilux more comfortable and more practical for everyday use. The cabin gets a soft-touch layout, ergonomic controls, smart storage spaces, 60:40 split rear seats and tilt-telescopic steering.

Other convenience features include Smart Entry, Push Start/Stop, cruise control, power steering, wireless charging, rear armrest, PM2.5 air filtration and multiple drive modes such as Eco, Normal and Sport. Toyota wants the Hilux to feel less like a pure workhorse and more like a premium lifestyle vehicle that can still do tough jobs.

Tech and safety

Technology has been upgraded too. The new Hilux gets a 12.3-inch infotainment system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 7-inch combination meter, Toyota i-Connect functions, voice controls and an 8-speaker audio system.

Safety is another major highlight. The truck is equipped with seven SRS airbags, Vehicle Stability Control, ABS with Brake Assist, ISOFIX child seat anchorage, TPMS, parking sensors, emergency brake signal and a panoramic view monitor. Toyota’s impact-absorbing body structure adds to the overall protection package.

Variants and colours

The new Hilux is being offered in three variants: 4×2 GX AT, 4×4 GX AT and 4×4 VX AT. Toyota has also introduced multiple colour options, including Super White, Platinum Pearl White, Attitude Black, Emotional Red, Sulphur Metallic and Ash.

Buyers can also personalise the pickup with genuine accessories such as headlamp garnish, door garnish kits, side visors and protective mouldings, giving it a more individual look.

Why it matters

The Hilux has always been a niche product in India, but this launch strengthens Toyota’s premium SUV and utility portfolio. It offers a rare combination of durability, off-road ability, comfort and high-end equipment, which should appeal to buyers who want a vehicle that is both professional and aspirational.

For Toyota, the all-new Hilux also reinforces its brand values of reliability, quality and long-term ownership confidence. In a market that increasingly wants vehicles that can do more than one job, the Hilux arrives with a very clear identity and a strong feature set.

The all-new Hilux is not just a cosmetic refresh. It is a more polished, better-equipped and more versatile version of Toyota’s legendary pickup, while still staying true to the toughness that made the badge famous. With 204 PS, 500 Nm, 4WD capability, premium tech and a starting price of Rs 31.99 lakh, the Hilux is now better prepared than ever to serve both adventure buyers and lifestyle-focused customers.
