Bentley has entered the electric era – unveiling the Torcal, its first ever fully electric vehicle, in London on September 24, 2026.
This high-performance electric SUV with grand-touring DNA offers extreme power, range and charging combined with handcrafted luxury, delivering a performance level that rivals the Rimac Nevera, Tesla Model X Plaid and Lotus Eletre R.
Two variants: standard and S
Bentley is launching the Torcal in two variants:
Torcal (standard):
Power: 821 PS (810 hp / 604 kW)
Torque: 1,194 Nm
0–60 mph: 3.3 seconds (0–100 km/h around 3.4 seconds)
Top speed: 250 km/h (155 mph)
Drive: dual-motor all-wheel drive.
Torcal S (performance flagship):
Power: 888 PS (876 hp / 653 kW) with Launch Control
Torque: 1,350 Nm – highest torque output of any Bentley to date
0–60 mph: 2.8 seconds (0–100 km/h in 2.9 seconds)
Top speed: 260 km/h (162 mph)
Drive: dual-motor all-wheel drive with performance tuning.
Battery, range and charging: 800V architecture
Under the floor sits an 800-volt electrical architecture with a 113 kWh (gross) lithium-ion battery pack composed of 192 pouch cells. This is the same basic architecture used in the Porsche Cayenne Electric and other VW Group PPE-platform EVs, but tuned and calibrated specifically for Bentley’s luxury and performance targets.
Key figures:
Claimed WLTP range: up to 600 km (375 miles)
DC fast charging: up to 400 kW
10–80% charge time: around 16 minutes under ideal conditions
AC charging: 11 kW and 22 kW onboard chargers for home and destination charging.
Bentley says the Torcal can add roughly 290 km of range in just 10 minutes at a high-power DC charger.
Platform and chassis: PPE with Bentley magic
The Torcal is based on the Volkswagen Group’s Premium Platform Electric (PPE) – shared with the upcoming electric Porsche Cayenne and Audi Q6 e-tron family – but Bentley has reworked the software, suspension tuning and chassis hardware to its liking.
Highlights include:
Fully active suspension with Bentley Dynamic Ride
Rear-axle steering for improved agility at slow speeds and stability at high speeds
Torque vectoring across the dual-motor AWD system
Multiple drive modes, including a Bentley-specific “Resting Beast” mode that softens responses but keeps full power on tap.
Design: classic Bentley cues meet EV aerodynamics
Externally, the Torcal retains Bentley’s signature design language but has been adapted for electrification:
Large illuminated matrix grille with active shutters for cooling and aerodynamics
Slim LED headlamps with crystal-cut detailing and animated welcome sequences
Muscular haunches and sculpted flanks inspired by Bentley’s GT heritage
Flush door handles and carefully controlled airflow to optimise range
22- and 23-inch alloy wheel designs, some with aero inserts.
The SUV’s proportions are classic Bentley – long bonnet, set-back cabin and a strong rear end – but with cleaner surfaces and fewer openings than an ICE Bentley due to reduced cooling requirements.
Interior: handcrafted luxury meets digital cockpit
Inside, the Torcal blends traditional craftsmanship with modern tech:
Hand-stitched leather, open-pore wood, polished metal and optional sustainable materials
Curved digital instrument cluster and large central touchscreen with haptic feedback
Passenger-side display for navigation and media control
Bentley Rotating Display that can hide the screen behind wood or metal trim when not in use.
Mulliner personalisation with bespoke colour palettes, embroidery and trim inlays.
A unique feature of the Torcal is a handcrafted driving soundtrack – developed with musicians to create an emotionally engaging sound profile that changes with drive mode – in response to customer feedback that EVs can feel too silent.
Other highlights include massaging front and rear seats, four-zone climate control, panoramic fixed glass roof, active noise cancellation and a premium Naim for Bentley audio system.
Performance meets practicality
Despite its supercar-level acceleration, the Torcal is a true grand tourer – seating four adults comfortably, with generous legroom and headroom. It also offers boot space competitive with other luxury electric SUVs, and has a towing capacity of up to 2,700 kg – perfect for towing trailers, boats or caravans.
Advanced driver-assistance systems include adaptive cruise, lane-keeping, night vision and a 360-degree camera suite.
Bentley positions the Torcal not just as a performance statement, but as a long-distance EV that can take you to the other end of the continent.
Pricing and availability
Bentley has indicated a starting price of around £173,300 in the UK for the standard Torcal, with the Torcal S commanding a significant premium. In India, if and when launched, it is likely to be significantly more expensive than £173,300, factoring in duties and taxes – but would still be right in the ultra-luxury EV segment alongside the Rolls-Royce Spectre, Lamborghini Lanzador and high-end Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo variants.
First customer deliveries are scheduled for 2027, with initial allocations prioritised for key markets including Europe, North America, China and the Middle East. An India launch, if confirmed, would likely follow in late 2027 or 2028.
The Bentley Torcal is a bold statement that electrification does not mean the end of ultra-luxury performance. With up to 888 PS, 600 km of range, 400 kW charging and a handcrafted interior, the Torcal aims to be the ultimate electric grand tourer – a car that can devastate a 0–100 km/h sprint, then settle into a silent, refined cruiser for a 500-km journey.
For Bentley, the Torcal is not just a new model – it is the first step into an all-electric future, proving that the brand’s core values (power, luxury, craftsmanship and exclusivity) can thrive in the EV age.
