Tata Motors is all set to replace its compact sedan Tigor with its more modern counterpart, the Aeris.

It is also possible that an EV variant could debut alongside the petrol and CNG options, likely under the Aeris EV banner, making its mark in a segment that competes directly with the Tata Tigor EV, as well as other electric sedans.

Pricing and positioning

The Aeris is expected to be positioned just a tad above the outgoing Tigor in both equipment and pricing, with a starting price estimate of Rs 6.0-6.5 lakh (petrol) on offer for the base variant, and the iCNG and top trims likely to tip the price beyond Rs 8.5 lakh (ex-showroom).

Competition in this segment is tough, with the likes of the Maruti Dzire, Hyundai Aura, and Honda Amaze vying for the attention of first-time buyers and families looking for a reliable and affordable petrol or CNG compact sedan.

While the compact sedan segment might see a decline in the years to come, it remains a popular choice among first-time buyers, as well as families and taxi operators.
