The global debut is expected in Thailand by late 2026. For India, the launch will likely follow 6-8 months later- putting the Indian debut in early 2027.
Initially, India may get the familiar 2.8-litre diesel and 2.7-litre petrol options, with the hybrid variants arriving later depending on market response and regulatory requirements. But given India’s push towards electrification and the Fortuner’s premium positioning, it wouldn’t be surprising to see at least the mild-hybrid diesel make it to Indian showrooms by mid-2027.
Pricing Expectations
The current Fortuner starts at around ₹35 lakh (ex-showroom) for the base diesel variant, while the top-spec Legender crosses ₹50 lakh. The next-gen model will likely see a price hike – new platform, hybrid tech, and more features don’t come cheap.
Expect the base variant to start around ₹37-38 lakh (ex-showroom), with the hybrid variants pushing past ₹50 lakh. If a strong hybrid version arrives, it could even touch ₹55-60 lakh (ex-showroom) for the top trim.
Competition and Market Position
